-You gotta love John Hollingers NBA power rankings. The Blazers, despite a 30-24 record and 4 game win streak, dropped to #16 in his ranking system. I'm scratching my head on this one, I know the Pacers beat us last time and have been playing better as of late, but they are still 24-28!
-Other head scratchers ahead of Portland are as follows: The Phoenix Suns, who Portland went 3-1 against in the regular season, are #12 in his rankings. The Suns are on a two game win streak that gives them a 26-26 record and have played decent ball as of late. So one would think his rankings may have taken a hot/cold factor into consideration (but Portland is hot as well), well that makes no sense since Houston is also ahead of Portland. They have lost two in a row and are 5-5 in their last 10. So, what exactly am I missing? Is it his horrid SOS calculations? If so then why is Miami ahead of Boston since Boston has a higher SOS (and are 3-0 against Miami?)...
-The biggest shocker is the 26-28 team that is ranked #8 in his poll. Any guesses on what team with that record would be ahead of Portland? Here are some hints, they are an Eastern Conference team (laughing yet?) I'm just gonna tell you, the team just behind the Dallas Mavericks, three spots behind the Boston Celtics, and ahead of New Orleans, Oklahoma City, Denver, Portland to name a few is the Philadelphia 76ers!
