First of all, I'd like to say I hope all of you had a Wonderful Christmas! I think we are all pretty glad that the NBA is back. I don't know what I would do without the NBA on Christmas. I would have been stuck upstairs trying to find a topic to talk about with my family members besides basketball. Thank goodness I didn't have to do that..
I went to my Grandparents house for Christmas eve, and talked with the boys about sports like I always do. We were sitting there by the fire watching basketball, and suddenly my uncle said the most absurd thing I have heard in a while. He said "Nicolas Batum
should start in front of Gerald Wallace
. Batum is probably the best player we have." I stopped him right there. How in the world would he think that? Of course I need to warn you, this was before Gerald Wallace scored 21 points on the first game, and 25 the second game. I tried to talk some sense into this man. I told him about Gerald's toughness and demeanor he brings to the floor each and every night. I also told him that Lamarcus Aldridge was the best player on the team. It was surprisingly tough to convince him about the Aldridge thing, but I think I got through to him on that. We argued for at least 20 minutes before he said another weird thing.
"We should fire Nate McMillan
, he doesn't know how to coach." I just about blew up on him. How could he say that? I mean, yeah we haven't gotten past the 1st round of the playoffs with Nate as the coach, but really?? We would probably still be the "Jail Blazers" if it weren't for Nate.
Just a few hours ago my uncle texted me saying he was wrong about Gerald. After watching the first 2 games of the season, he knew Wallace was something special. I couldn't help but tell him I told you so. Now I still need to persuade him to thinking Nate is a good coach. I'll get through to him, don't worry. I hope you all agree with me, but I’d like to see somebody else’s opinion if they don’t. Thanks!
