Pelton: SCHOENE Projects Blazers As No. 4 In West

55
Kevin Pelton of Basketball Prospectus has issued annual preseason projections from his SCHOENE system. This year, the Portland Trail Blazers are projected to win 37.5 games and finish as the No. 4 seed in the Western Conference, trailing only the Oklahoma City Thunder, Los Angeles Clippers and San Antonio Spurs. The projection sets up a rematch against the No. 5 seed Dallas Mavericks in the playoffs. SCHOENE also projects Portland to finish with the No. 11 offense and the No. 12 defense in the NBA. Humorously, SCHOENE projects the Los Angeles Lakers to win 33.5 games and the Minnesota Timberwolves to win 33.4 games. Support KP2's work by purchasing Pro Basketball Prospectus 2011-2012 right here for $9.98. No better value in basketball knowledge. (Note: Earlier this week, Pelton previewed the West and included the Blazers as the last team in the conference's second tier with four teams total in front of Portland. He clarifies that the tiered list was not in order and he wasn't ranking Portland as the No. 5 team in the piece, as I assumed at the time.) -- Ben Golliver | benjamin.golliver@gmail.com | Twitter
