Possible trade/Solution for a Big man
This is realistic because Josh Smith wants out of Atlanta and we are in need of a big. Marcus Camby is getting older but in reality he could be a positive influence as a veteran leader for the Hawks. The salaries match up but the downside is someone would need to play Center out of Smith and Aldridge. But it is an interesting possibility.

I think they can play together but we'll still need another big
who is a legit Center and one who plays more physical than most. Josh Smith is a lefty right so they wouldn’t, most of the time, take up similar sides of the court. Starting both LMA and Josh would give us an extremely mobile and quick lineup and we have the PG to take advantage of that in Felton. Defensively it’ll work because Smith is a premier shot-blocker and a good rebounder too, though we’d need to play more zone. Can you imagine a front court lineup of : SF- Wallace, PF- Smith, C- Aldridge?
With that lineup we could switch pick and rolls all the time!
Well, Oden could be back in 8 weeks, and Portland may also resign Przy next week
the main problem I see is potential PT conflicts at the PF position, once Greg returns. Not that I mind having “too many” big men, but LMA will play 38 mpg and Smith will not like having his minutes reduced. (Not to mention his touches…) Sure, Nate could play small lineups, but there will still be some nights where “somebody” is gonna be left out of the big man rotation
Still and all, I don’t hate the trade proposal
When reached 40 years of following Portland basketball you have, be as passionate of the Trail Blazers you will not!
hawks would get a much better deal than this
if they were looking to deal Smith. we can’t start Smith and Aldridge down low.
"There's my Chippy"
There are maybe three or four teams in the entire NBA that lineup would not work against
Atlanta has had success starting Horford and Smith, and Aldridge is even more of a natural 5 than Horford is (Horford is a better rebounder, but Gerald Wallace balances the equation).
Phase 1: Collect underpants
Phase 2: ???
Phase 3: Profit!
what about this

Josh Smith has very little to offer the Blazers
He is exactly the type of overhyped video game player we are trying to get away from

To the 24 people who have voted for the second and fourth options, so far

Phase 1: Collect underpants
Phase 2: ???
Phase 3: Profit!
But seriously
Smith would probably cost us Gerald Wallace. I’d be ecstatic if there was some way to do a three-team deal that would allow us to give up Camby and some younger assets (such as Luke Babbitt, Elliot Williams, Joel Freeland, or draft picks) for a low-post scorer that would interest Atlanta, but I don’t see it happening.
But, if you would have asked me last season what I thought it would cost us to get Gerald Wallace, my answer would not have been Przybilla, two picks, and salary filler.
Phase 1: Collect underpants
Phase 2: ???
Phase 3: Profit!
It'd cost more than Gerald Wallace.
Any trade for Josh Smith would start at Marcus Camby and Nicolas Batum.

Maybye The MaGoofs do this deal

I don't think they want to spend that much money.
the wallace and camby contracts are pretty big, and the maloofs are probably fine with a young core.
