Okafor or Kaman to Portland?
Now that the Paul trade looks like it is finally going down, there could be a domino effect.
Are Chris Kaman or Emeka Okafor in the Hornets rebuilding plan? Maybe one, but not both. Portland could offer up MCEC, maybe throw in a second-round pick or so. Because of his D, and superior durability, I'd prefer to see Okafor. Kaman would be a nice complement if healthy, but on a Portland team that is a big if. Okafor also has a big contract, which could have an effect.
This also may effect whether Landry re-signs with NOH or not.
In less Blazer-related speculation, the Clips now have four quality point guards in Paul, Billups, Williams, and Bledsoe. Look for Jarrett Jack and Trevor Ariza trade speculation as well.

P.S.
Trading for Okafor might help us get Paul, since they are former teammates :-)
CP will not be a FA 2012
He is bound to opt unfit 2012-2013 season.
No thx for kamen, another injury prone guy. No point on keeping him for 1 yr.
Okafors contract has yrs left. Portland is said to be in rebuild mode through FA 2012 and draft.
Plus we’d have a bobcat team in Felton, Okafors, and Wallace.

I want okafor
Keep kaman AWAY from portland. Hes a terrible center. Too old and weak. Or maybe just weak

My god, the Clippers just got SHAFTED.
You don’t trade a prime Eric Gordon who is young and 100% healthy + a potential #1 overall pick in the stacked 2012 draft for an older guard with a bum knee. Whatever, better for us I’d say because the Clippers were looking dangerous for a second there.

I wonder...
How badly Cleveland and Toronto are feeling right now, seeing the deals Denver, Utah, and NO got.
For trading out a superstar, that is a darn good package. Gordon plus two high draft picks (their’s and Minnesota’s) is not a bad foundation to rebuild around.
True from a basketball sense...
But from a business sense, the Clippers franchise just upped their value in a huge way. The may not win the title, they may even do worse than they did last year, but the owner will make more money this year for sure.

okafor would nicely address our biggest need.
i’d be tickled pink about that move. quality centers are rare.
True that
Okafor would be a great C behind Oden. He gives a quality starter in case Oden doesn’t work out and a great second unit big if Oden works. I’d do it.
But you will probably have to give Freeland and a rook/sophomore to pull it off.
MCEC/Freeland/Babbit for Okafor?

Thank the stars it wasn't the Fakers.
That is all.

definition: "but for"
- Cause-in-fact is determined by the “but for” test: but for the action, the result would not have happened.

excellent visual
Apparently not giving up on Brandon or Greg paid no dividends. Whatever... Go Blazers!!!

See the discussion that was already underway in the front page Chris Paul Fanshot.
We are discussing Camby + 2nd year guys for Okafor. Or Wallace for Okafor and a 1st round pick from NO.

I really don't see
The league approving a trade that involves bringing Camby to a team they are trying to stock with young cheap talent and draft picks.
"Biting is excellent. It's like kissing, except there's a winner."
Expiring contract
and decent player all rolled up into one.
Saves money
A team with talented pieces, without big long contracts will look good for a future owner. I don’t think we should throw much more than Camby in there.
Blazers are loaded
with young guys including Eurostash types.
A sophomore (Babbit, Williams, Johnson, Johnson) a Euro (Freeland, Claver, or Deibler)
MCEC and a second rounder would be a great move.
If they ask for Wes or Batum…forget it!

neither is going to happen
nate made it clear he only wants a free agent
i didn't get that from his remarks at all.
He’s just trying to keep everyone on an even keel as we descend into the chaos that is 11’-12’. If there is a trade to be made, the Blazers will not sit on their hands..

I would have thought..
That Gerald Wallace and a couple picks would get Okafor, perhaps throw in EWill, clearing their books mightily and getting us a very solid center who is of an age with the rest of our core. This would be an AWESOME move for us.
No freaking way
The only way I’d trade Gerald Wallace for Emeka Okafor’s contract would be if the Hornets rerouted that Minnesota pick to us.
Okafor’s contract is a HUGE long-term committment, especially if we think there’s any hope of Oden ever healing up. Do you really want to be paying $14 mil for a backup 5/4 a couple of years from now?

at this point
I think it would be foolish to consider Oden at all when addressing the center position. Having a good starting center and a healthy Oden would be a good problem to have…

if anyone could handle it
it’s Paul Allen.
40 mil + tied up in 3 front line guys!

No
Trading Wallace would defeat the purpose of the trade. We are trying to get the Bobcat’s team from a few years ago with the addition of LMA…
In all seriousness, I wouldn’t touch a Wallace for Okafor trade. That is a lateral move at best.
agreed
I dont think it would take Wallace to get okafor anyway. Camby plus sweetener seems about right considering the direction the hornets are going(young and cheap)

more like we give them Camby and they give us Okafor and a 1st rounder
They have been trying to give him away for 2 years and have not got anyone to bite.
That should tell you something
They would have to give us 3 mil also
You guys are crazy with this talk about us giving up assets for bums like Okafor or Fat Al when there teams would pay US to tkae there contracy
La Illaha Illallah Muhamadur Rasulallah
Okafor is exactly what we need for a Center
however, who wants to give us a player who fills a vital need when the league could sit back and watch as struggle after the whole Oden fiasco.
Please, do not get Kaman, he is one wrong movement away from a medical retirement himself.
Okafor would be amazing, but we don’t have much to offer the Hornets, as our best trading chips are old men, and of course Batum, who may be worth more to us than NO.

Camby + EWill + 2nd round pick + 1 million cash for Okafor should do it...
The smarter you are, the more likely you are to be tripping balls at any given moment.
Bring Back Dre.
Or Camby + rights to Victor Claver + 2nd round pick + 1 million cash for that matter...
Considering EWill plays the same position as their newly acquired Eric Gordon…
The smarter you are, the more likely you are to be tripping balls at any given moment.
Bring Back Dre.
no way would NO take Camby
they’d say something like Batum + Wallace, as they’d get youth and talent, and we’d get a talented big, which are precious in this league.
EWill is too unproven currently. And Claver may never come over.

Okafor is grossly overpaid.
While big men may be in short supply these days, Okafor will never live up to his contract. The combination of an expiring contract and a young player should be enough to pry Okafor away from New Orleans.
The smarter you are, the more likely you are to be tripping balls at any given moment.
Bring Back Dre.
how come we can't buy these guys with a couple million
and some second round picks!

Unless we can land Hibbert, McGee or Gortat
who else is there to target? Besides Drummond, there isn’t much center talent in the draft.
Paul Allen, the 2011 Trail Blazers Owner/GM
I'd do either of those

Okafor
will propel us towards a sign & trade of Roy Hibbert :)
Paul Allen, the 2011 Trail Blazers Owner/GM
Clearing cap space
Might be a priority now for the Hornets. Perhaps MCEC could be useful. If we use the MLE to sign Crawford as the third guard, have a bigs rotation of Aldridge, Okafor and Thomas with Batum and Wallace on the wings we could be a dangerous team.
2008-2009 bobcats
if there was a move such as batum for okafor – your looking at 3/5 of the 08-09cats in okafor, felton, and wallace
I don't think I'd give up Batum for Okafor honestly, unless we got a draft pick.
or some other quality asset.
Paul Allen, the 2011 Trail Blazers Owner/GM
We wouldn't be trading Batum to get Okafor
it would be Camby + youngster (s)…and I’m okay with being the mecha-Bobcats 2.0 plus Aldridge, Batum, Matthews, and Crawford
