According to Dwight Jaynes,
A team source confirmed today that Greg Oden has been participating in some of the team's drills during camp. He apparently loosens up with the squad and does some running and drill work in the early part of practice.
Oden has been cleared to do some basketball-related activity but is allowed no contact. According to one source, he's not running fluidly yet.
Is this good news? I think there is legitimate uncertainty, and perhaps disagreement among the doctors, about whether the ligament issue will resolve itself through rehab, or whether additional surgery is required. But the fact that surgery wasn't performed immediately -- and that Oden is proceeding with non contact drills -- suggests there is still a chance he gets on the court this season. My guess is that they will give this a month or two to see if there is improvement or not, and if not we'll see another surgery. Let's hope for the best!
But wouldn't it be better if they had a little media gathering and told us?
