EVENT REMINDERS: The Basketball Jones At 4 PM; LaMarcus Aldridge's Charity Game At 7:30PM
Just a quick reminder: Today is the best day of basketball in Portland since the first round of the 2011 NBA playoffs ended.
At 4 PM, join The Basketball Jones, the NBA blogosphere's premier podcast, as they record a live show at On Deck Sports Bar in NW Portland. Dwight Jaynes and I will be there. The show will run for an hour and then segue into pre-game mingling. Full details on Facebook.
At 7:30 PM, Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge is hosting the Rip City Basketball Classic at the University of Portland's Chiles Center. The game is scheduled to feature Aldridge, Kevin Durant, Wesley Matthews, Brandon Roy, Jamal Crawford and a host of other NBA players. More details here.
Check back later tonight for full coverage of Aldridge's event.
Hope to see you at both!

my question too
i hope someone can just stick a laptop on the scorers table and put it on ustream.
im that desperate for blazer bball.
PHILLY!
THIS please. I would attend if I lived in Portland still but I can't...
Being a Blazer fan is not exactly healthy.
yes
im dying to see this too but im not going to the game
I thought about it, then I realized it's not on TV so nobody can comment live
Wait, it’s not on TV right?
Yeah, if anyone was live blogging it, I'd probably catch up with Dave and toss up a post for it
But it sounds like there would be minimal info, just a bunch of people asking how they could see the game.
roy not playing
sigh.
SBRadio Sports Biz Radio
Just told that Brandon Roy will not be at LaMarcus Aldridge Classic tonight due to family circumstances that kept him in Seattle.
PHILLY!
what that really means....
He was at home packing his bags since he know as soon as they make a deal we are cutting him with the new amnesty clause.
Don't be mad, I didn't put the amnesty clause into the new deal... but it would be smart for them to use it.
Why would that be smart? If we aren’t going into rebuild mode we don’t need to free up any roster spots. Roy is going to stay another year at least.
it's about freeing up cap space and flexibility more than a roster spot

And possibly
making Roles on the team more clear. I feel like as long as Roy is around, everyone looks at hime like the head guy. Hopefully they can prove me wrong when the season starts if they keep him around.
after seeing Storyteller's excellent post on how he impacts our cap going forward
there is no way for me to justify us paying him the 15+ million per year, even for one season if I’m being brutally honest (as much as I’d like to see it)

I think LMAs recruitment attempts
of Jamal Crawford are very telling in that situation. LMA knows how many guards we have, he knows how many minutes he was playing last season, yet he continues to try and pick up another guard.
I wonder if the real reason is
he heard about the LMA recruitment of Crawford and feels betrayed. Wouldn’t surprise me. Roy is a bit emotional.
He was sitting next to Crawford at the UW basketball game last Friday.
They seemed to be having a great time.
I would expect his problem to be with LMA
not Jamal. Jamal can’t help who trys to recruit him.
Hmm
Roy isn’t listed as playing on the OregonLive site.

You know you are jonesing for blazer basketball when you are refreshing an oregonlive blog every other minute in hopes for a one sentence update.

Yeah, I'm also refreshing HoopsHype Blazer tweets, Joe Freeman tweets and
ripcityclassic tweets. Truly pathetic.
#52--------I believe in Greg Oden
Home Team leads 91-79 at the break [just before halftime]…
If you ever need a reminder how how hard coaches must work to get players to play defense…

Or if you want to know what the score would be like
if we would have drafted Durant.
He ain't playing for both teams
Unless that’s a shot at his lack of defensive prowess too.

LA handing out serious money to various charities at the end of each qtr.

Awesome.
Hope to see another “Rip City Basketball Classic” next offseason, so glad to see LaMarcus making an effort to recruit players to Portland – Who wouldn’t want to play with #12? I would welcome the thought of Terrence Williams to Portland… Always liked him at Louisville, I still believe he could still develop into an NBA role player in the future.
Get it done... Paul.
Greg Oden playing - or even showing up - would get me pumped up
Brandon. . . . I’m kind of waiting to hear something that says he’s gotten beyond ‘damaged goods’ (yes, that is ironic given what I just said about Oden).
put a body on 'em
Ben will have clips I'm sure.
My take on tonight, Roy didnt help himself rid the selfish label. Felton will fit just fine, and is no heavier than he normally is. CJ doesnt look that thin standing next to Durant. Pendy may not be so robotic anymore. LA raised a lot of $ for charity.
But the best part of the night to me, was the little man who killed the Dougie.
just win baby !
The CJ Durant comparison
Cj is a PF/C Durant is a SF. Those positions require different physical attributes.
"Roy didnt help himself rid the selfish label"
Was that you calling out LaMarcus when he turned down Team USA before all the facts were in?
Just sayin.
Not calling anyone out,
regardless of why. It didnt help Roy’s image not being there. All I’m saying.
CJ and Durant play different positions, really ?? This was a charity game.
just win baby !
Game started dragging in the 3rd quarter, but a good experience overall.
I really liked watching Felton work.
