I suppose...
…the silver lining to this, is Victor is playing overseas. He is signed to a contract through 2014. So purely selfishly? His foot problems are Valencia’s problem…
I actually have liked a lot of what I’ve heard about Victor Clavers talent and athleticism. But? If he starts having problems with the “landing gear”…that can severely hamper a career.
On the positive side, no gain, but no real loss for The Blazers. If he is playing well in 2 years, and not having foot problems…we still have his N.B.A. draft rights…if not? You win some you lose some….
You can complain about a lost draft pick…but that hasn’t really been determined yet, and he was a late, late 1st round pick even at that. He’s young a kid…I hope his feet allow him to play ball as long as he wants to…

KP is the best GM EVER!
Dude does his homework, oh wait he is just a used car salesmen. Charisma can’t change the facts on the ground, at this point is KP in the running for worst GM ever in Blazer history? Seriously look at the 2007-2009 drafts.

Not defending or condeming...
…but I think it’s a waste of time to look back two years in retrospect and fault KP for the outcome of Victor Claver or any of our 22+ first round position draft picks.
What have we witnessed since? Even when KP was supposedly at the helm, he himself defined the draft process as a “group effort”. It does seem to me that Portland and The Blazers and Paul Allen embrace a “All Hands On Deck”…attitude to the draft. In other words? It’s not one person sitting atop making over riding decisions. I’m relatively sure Victor Claver wasn’t a purely KP decision.

Agreed.
Blame can be pretty evenly distributed for the poor drafts of the past couple years. As far as the Spanish obsession, I think that’s more PA than anybody. I seem to remember him having a lot to do with Sergio’s selection.
Sure, there are some flubs that sit squarely in KP’s lap (not using Raef’s expiring contract), but the draft is a collective failure. We’re all (knee-deep) in this together, ya know?
Oddly enough, I think they’ve done pretty good at the bottom of the 1st/top of the 2nd in the draft. Batum, Cunningham, and Johnson are my recent favs. Pre-25th pick has been all fail for the Blazers since 2008.

In other news, Rodrigue Beaubois, selected by Dallas with the 25th pick in the 2009 NBA Draft...
…will be battling JJ Barrea for the 2nd string PG duties behind Jason Kidd. Dallas is confident that between Barrea and Beaubois, they can transition from the Kidd era into the future when the veteran PG retires.
Meanwhile, back in Portland questions swirl around the backup PG spot and who will fill the role. Armon Johnson manned the position to start the season, but after turnover troubles, he was replaced a better ball handler in Patty Mills. By season’s close it was obvious that Mills was not a long term solution due to his diminutive size, poor defense, and inconsistency on both ends. Portland looked to the draft once again, this time selecting Nolan Smith. Smith, Johnson, and Mills will fight it out when training camp opens for the role. A potential dark horse is Elliott Williams, who wowed many in his pre-draft workouts, but sat out last season with knee injuries. More on this story as it develops…

Rondo is a scoring PG? Since when?
I think you meant Rose?
The smarter you are, the more likely you are to be tripping balls at any given moment.
Bring Back Dre.
