Well, at least we know the NBA is serious about the fines now.
Looks like it was $500,000. Interestingly, even though this public message was against the owners, that doesn’t seem to be what the NBA cares about. They fined Jordan for making public statements in favor of the owners.
They’re serious about wanting to keep a low profile.
Probably worth a note that, while they went after Arison, they have given no sign they’re going after lower-level employees, such as those who discuss their finances. Smart move.
an owner making a statement against other owners is even worse to the NBA's bargaining positon
they are working hard to present a united front. tweets like Arison’s are far worse to the NBA’s PR game than anything directed at the players’ positions would be.

i don't think they ever meant their threat to apply toward low-level employees like arena workers, etc.
perhaps they purposely left it vague, but it’s pretty obvious that the NBA wouldn’t give 2 nickels about what anyone outside of the “know” on an NBA team says. who cares what an usher or sales rep or ball boy says – they aren’t privy to the negotiations, and thus really don’t have anything of interest to divulge. Obviously teh NBA doesn’t want everyone and their brother going around bad mouthing the league, but you can be pretty sure their gag order thinking all along was strictly directly at owners, coaches, and team management.

Yeah, the NBA League Office won't involve itself with mid-level team employees or low-level arena ...
workers. Nor should it, since how those employees are managed ought to be left up to the discretion of each individual franchise. The only ones who should be affected by this mandate are the owners, upper management executives, members of basketball operations departments, and coaches.

Well, he also made a disparaging remark about fellow owner Donald Sterling... ;-)
There were several other tweets from Arison that also likely drew ire. When another fan asked Arison what he thought about Clippers’ owner Donald Sterling, he replied with a simple “lol.”
Don't think I've seen this before
This article from the Orlando Sentinel has a copy of the letter and gag order that went out to all teams:
