My story: Sabonis's Clown Car

Turning 9 remains the most memorable birthday I have ever had thanks to the Blazers and good old German Engineering.

My parents saved enough money to get me a truly amazing present: A train trip up to RipCity for one of the first two (wish I could remember the exact game) WC semifinal games between the Blazers and the Jazz (not to mention a sweet Gameboy color and a box of b-ball cards).

The game was great, but I really don't remember much of it.

After the game had finished my parents and I rushed down to the parking garage hoping for autographs. Sabonis came out and I screamed for him to notice me (still love that giant, I was wearing my tye-dye Lithuania B-Ball shirt), sadly he kept walking to the sea of cars. Several minutes later a brand new Volkswagen Beetle drove up and looking in the window I noticed Sabonis sitting in the drivers seat with his head resting against the roof. I stood in disbelief trying to figure out how such a large man could fit into such a small car.

I still have absolutely no clue as to how he got into that thing and watching him comically drive off in his clown car remains my most memorable Blazers moment. It also made me realize that those Beetles must have a ton of hidden legroom.
