Lockout Boredom numbly presents a Travis Outlaw Poll

If the new CBA does contain an amnesty clause, Travis Outlaw seems to be a likely candidate for the New Brooklyn Jersey Nets to release. I believe signing Travis Outlaw for two years at the league minimum would be a great fit (be gentle with me).

If he is amnestied, should the Portland Trail Blazers try to sign Travis Outlaw to back up LaMarcus Aldridge at the 4? Will Travis be willing to sign for the minimum while he is still getting paid by Brooklyn? Would Travis sign with Portland knowing he has no chance to start (don't even think about the I word)?

Should the Blazers try to bring Travis Outlaw back?
Heck yeah! Travis would be a great back-up.

Only if they can sign him for the minimum.

Sure, why not. At least BRoy will have a buddy to talk to on the bench.

Yes, but I'll speak for myself in the comment section, thank you very much.

Better than Luke Babbitt.

I’d also take Steve Blake or Jarrett Jack as backup PG right now too.

I like Travis, but i'm leaning more towards no.

Even at the league min I think we could find a better player.

really?

That would take some serious scouting. I have no idea what the Nets were thinking with his contract, but Travis would be a serious bargain at the league minimum, and I’m a long way from a fan of his game.

long live the jd.

I'm guessing that Outlaw will not be the best player that get's amnestied.

But yeah, you’re probably right. As far as taking the min and actually coming to Portland he would probably be the best bet. That being said, I’d still rather pay more for a better player.

This is pretty much the same position I'm at.

If he’s league minimum, he could have a nice bounce-back with Brandon, LaMarcus and Nate in Portland, even if the dynamics have changed.

I like Travis

but we can’t survive with another tweener backing LA up. we need a banger/bruiser

my thought too, IF

we have some legit scoring threats/guys who can create their own shot on our second team (who don’t also get “amnestied”).

I am not giving up on Greg or Brandon.

Sure.

It would be fun to see a double-wing lineup out there:

Roy, Batum, Wallace, Outlaw and Aldridge

I’m not saying it would be effective (Chris Paul would feast…), but it would be fun.

He seemed to flourish under Nate's system.

We sure could have used some of his fourth quarters last year.

My favorite teams are the Blazers and any team that is playing the Lakers.

No, and I <3 me some Travis.

Just like Landry. Dante and GW. You have to go bigger for rings. There is no other answer at this point.

just win baby !

Half-rec

As long as Travis is not in Portland, he helps the Blazers in his own way. If he occupies a roster spot for another team, that’s just a bonus.

Maybe

But Outlaw’s huge salary is a small part of why there is a lockout right now, so he is hurting the Blazers in that regard.

no, it's not.

the very second that this next cba gets ratified, the new idiotic contracts will rain down.

look forward to discussion in two years about how insane it is for:
kris humphries to be making 10 million.
jamal crawford getting a 6 year deal.
boston fighting no one to overpay jef green by 3 million a year.
tyson chandler tying up the next 5 years of nys cap space and ir list.
mcgrady getting a tenth shot at starting.
aaraon gray parlaying his 10 point game against the lakers into guaranteed money.

i was trying to find a list of minimum salary players, but i couldn't find one...

i believe that IF outlaw was signed to a minimum deal, he would easily be one of the best players with such a contract. i think travis was underrated his last two seasons here (and subsequently waaaay overrated by the nets). would love to see him back on the team. i would also happily welcome back cunningham.

Do we really need another wing player?

Give me a15 min. Banger PF or a Backup PG who can hit the 3.

Outlaw sucks.

I never understood why people loved him so much. NJ would love to dump anywhere.

I wonder if NOH will amnesty Okafor

If so he could be a GREAT pick up for cheaper then he is worth.

by AR-15 on Oct 29, 2011 1:08 PM PDT reply actions   2 recs

Still a solid role player

BUT… we already have 2 small forwards who deserve to start and Travis isnt big enough to play the four

by Correy Ericksen on Oct 29, 2011 4:40 PM PDT reply actions

I say no.

I want a multifaceted or consistent player, or both. Outlaw is neither of those.

Taxes don't kill jobs.

Love me some Catfish!

But not a great option at the 4 spot.

Holding out for Devyn
