Isola: NBA To Cancel 2 More Weeks On Tuesday
Frank Isola of the New York Daily News reports...
----------------------------
The NBA will be cancelling at least two more weeks of its season, according to a person familiar with the league's plans. The source told the Daily News that the announcement will be made by the league on Tuesday.
----------------------------
This would cover the period from Nov. 15 to Nov. 28. Seven Portland Trail Blazers games would be impacted by the cancellation: a Nov. 16 home game versus the Chicago Bulls, a Nov. 18 road game at the Indiana Pacers, a Nov. 19 road game at the Milwaukee Bucks, a Nov. 21 road game at the Charlotte Bobcats, a Nov. 23 road game at the Detroit Pistons, a Nov. 24 home game versus the Utah Jazz and a Nov. 28 road game at the Dallas Mavericks. The cancellation would leave the Blazers with 68 games remaining on their regular season schedule.
NBA commissioner David Stern cancelled the first two weeks of the regular season on Oct. 10.

Sounds about right
The NBA delayed the next cancellation as long as they could. And as expected (by some of us at least), they’re not touching Christmas games yet. That might be the next point of no return.
Last time around, they didn't cancel the Christmas games until November 23rd
The All-Star game was cancelled in early December. I expect something similar this time around — they’ll wait as long as they can before officially zapping games.
bah!

Okay, I've still only lost 2 games...
GSW, and Philly. I could stand to lose Minnesota (12/5), Toronto (12/14), and LAC (12/26) but I really, really hope something gets worked out by January, because buying the “Lakers Package” without the LAL game on 1/24 would be a real bummer.

They will completely redo the schedule if they play this year.
You can’t tell anything about the schedule based on what’s been cancelled so far because it will all be redone. After the last lockout they balanced the conference games as best they could and then threw in some out of conference games, but teams did NOT play every team in the other conference.

Yeah the old schedule is a goner now.
I suspect they’ll announce tomorrow that an 82 game season is no longer possible, though it may just go unstated.
Don't go breaking my heart.
I’m sure I’ll still get 11 games, or the value of 11 games.
Actually, I was pretty bummed with the level of competition I got in this year’s package, so shaking it up wouldn’t be so bad.

Billy Hunter is a joke.
The players better make the sacrifice and deal with earning less mula like the rest of America during these tough economic times. Pretty soon half of the players association is going to side with the owners and turn on Billy like a pack of hungry cannibalistic wolves…
I love how we all just tell them to bend over and take it
But lets be honest if you had a job, and your boss came to you and told you to take a 10% pay cut (it was 57% of BRI and they wanted originally 47%) and you knew your boss couldn’t fire you, that he still needed you to sell his product, you wouldnt just start shaking your head yes. And there are more issues than just the money, theres also teh structure which is causing an issue. Don’t get me wrong I’m ticked off that both sides are making the right concessions, but to be honest im blaming the owners a bit more. They seem perfectly fine with not giving anything up and cancelling the season. In all the things I have read they have barely budged at all. This is a negotation, you can’t have everything you want. They do need the players, and need them to come back fairly happy also.
They just need players
They really don’t need the current players. New stars will come into the league. As long as they have enough athletes to fill the bench the owners will be fine. Maybe a boring few years but it would only take a little while to feel normal again.
People aren't going to pay the same ticket price without the star players
are you going to pay full price to see Chris johnson as the starting center for your team? come on now the stars are who they market, and everyone knows who the stars are.. if the league returned without the stars a large majority would cancel season tickets, and the ammount of money owners would lose due to lack of stars would far outweigh any gains they get in these negotiations.
The fact that they are throwing out another two weeks of the season makes me think of when I was a kid and my mom was yelling at me to come to her, and she would threaten me with the line " You better get over here on the count of three, or else! 1,2.—-"

Only 18 more games to go....
and we’ve achieved thing on my dream list-a 50 game season. Now, if Paul A. would just sell the team to a local owner (Phil Knight) who would NEVER move the team, that would be achievement #2 on the dream list. Then, if said new owner (Phil Knight) would bring at least one more major league sport to town, that would be achievement #3. I’ve also added a couple more to my dream list: Stern and Silver will go away forever and Oden will actually play like a #1 pick for a few years. Maybe if we all dream together we can make this all happen!
Feel free to add your own elements to my dream…

Players got to take a pay cut
Along with all the teachers, construction workers, and many other people around. The economy is crappy, China will soon be the worlds power, these athletes need to wake up and stop thinking the economy is decent!!!
They have already been takign one... in the negotiations they have gone from 57%down to 53%
the question is how much do they deserve to have cut… personally I hate that the league wont let us see their books to see how much money really is being lost by the owners.
