Parker wants Spurs to sign Blazers Batum

I just read this on rotoworld.com: "Tony Parker wants Spurs to sign Nicolas Batum Appearing on his weekly radio show in France, Tony Parker said that he would like San Antonio to sign Nicolas Batum, who is a restricted free agent in 2012." "My dream? Spurs signing Nicolas Batum. Nico knows the story, he knows that the Spurs were getting to draft him. I was going crazy, it was the first time I was attending the draft. We were gonna play together until the Blazers messed up. I really want the Spurs to sign him as a free agent." Both players are from France, and Parker is very high on Batum's future. It wouldn't be surprising to see San Antonio make a bid for him when the time comes."

this is the 2nd time he has brought this up in the last week or two

hey Tony – you want to play with Nic so bad? Tell the Spurs to trade you to Portland.

Hopefully this will be a non-issue when we lock up Batum this fall.

I know, right?

Normally, with grandpa Timmy and old man Manu, you’d think Parker would rather be around guys like LMA, Gerald Wallace in the upcoming years. But, it probably doesn’t take a genius to figure out that SA probably has a better chance at rebuilding into a contender than Portland does, even though we’ve got some nicer pieces.

well, the Spurs certainly have MUCH savvier management

I'm not a Felton hater

and I know TP is getting old. But I wouldn’t mind trading Felton for TP. I think TP would be a better mentor for Nolan Smith. I haven’t looked at contracts but I assume we would have to give more then Felton to obtain Parker, and thats assuming SA is even open to TP trade talk.

I know this isn't a trade thread

and there is a lock out going on. I wonder if SA and NOLA would be some what interested in this trade. http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=3ckbb3j

NOLA gets rid of the Okafor’s contract they have been trying to get rid of. They get a cheapish expiring contract in McDyess and a cheap possible prospect in Luke Babbit (Monte might be interested?) SA gets an expiring contract in Camby who would take the place of McDyess and a PG in Felton to replace TP. This also will help SA clear some cap room if they want to try and get a big name to take over after Tim Duncan (I know there has been no talk but maybe Dwight?) And gives Portland a C we do desperately need and a PG we can count on for a few years while we hopefully end our search for our PGOTF.

Forget TP

His best days are already behind him and he obviously has questionable character.

I just hope....

Nico comes in this year, if there’s a season and play’s the way he played overseas this summer. I love Batum, and wanna see him flourish on our team. I don’t care if the offense isn’t run through him, it’s not run through Gerald Wallace either and he still makes his fair share of great play’s! After saying this I’m glad the Blazers were able to acquire Wallace. Hopefully during training camp, if there is one, G Dub and Nico will go toe to toe and with his experience this summer he comes into the season a changed player! Ready to start and dominate! Go Blaze!

If it has to happen, don't let him leave as a free agent.

A trade for DeJuan Blair to backup LA, Kawhi Leonard to replace Batum(and eventually succeed Gerald Wallace) & Cory Joseph to add to the Nolan Smith/Armon Johnson PGOTF battle? Get it done..

Get it done... Paul.

As if the NBA didn't need more jackasses.

Tony’s got a bad history of puttin his hands where they don’t belong. Ask Brent Barry and his now ex-wife.
