"A couple days ago on Twitter, David Thorpe asked: 'How's it gonna look when NBA players playing overseas get sent home because they are just not worth what they were being paid?'
Since then, DeJuan Blair -- a starter on one of the league's best teams in San Antonio -- was let go by his Russian team.
It's not that Blair didn't play well. His numbers were solid. It's also not that he has a big attitude -- quite the opposite.
The problem appears to have been simply that they could get similar production for less from any number of other players. He was good, but the amount they paid him, in that league, is reserved for greatness."

Maybe we should sign some Russians.
"Anybody might guess beforehand that there would be blunders of the ignorant. What nobody could have guessed, what nobody could have dreamed of in a nightmare, what no morbid mortal imagination could ever have dared to imagine, was the mistakes of the well-informed." - G. K. I don't think this timing is coincidental:
E! News has confirmed [Bruce Willis] will reprise his most famous role as the indefatigable New York cop John McClane in a fifth installment, this time doing battle with some Russian baddies.
It’s perfect. Russians invade the country in guise of basketball players, and the only one who can save us is… John McClane.
Talk about grinding it into the ground.
They should call this one Dead Hard, and save us the suffering.
And please god do not let them cast Shia Leboufe in some sidekick role.
I don't give a damn for a man that can only spell a word one way.

I'm not sure Shia is worse than Justin "I'm a smug Mac" Long in the last one
Man that was awful.
But yeah, someone else please.

Now all we need is the rest of the roster to get into "how can everybody help Nicco and Oden" mode. -- Oden Mad, Oden Smash! Sep 29, 2010 7:47 PM
He's not alone. A few other guys also have already disappointed abroad
Including Earl Clark who was released by his Chinese team again. And Austin Daye as well as Timofey Mozgov and former Blazer Sergey Monya, who failed to get their Russian team Khimki into the Euroleague losing a qualifier against a team with (on paper) lesser talent. Daye and Mozgov were so bad their new coach benched them for the 2nd half. The only NBA player who exceeded expectations in that game: Superstar Chris Quinn who put in 25 points and 3 assists.

Players may get themselves a lesson in economics
Even if, in some magical land, they started their own league they wouldn’t get paid near as much. It’s like they’re in some twisted reality where they think the owners are robbing them blind. I don’t see their position improving with time.
"I don’t see their position improving with time."
Right, it’ll just get worse, and worse, and worse.
"I Am Mine"
the mid-level guys in the NBA are severely overpaid
Losing games over basically 3% of basketball related income really makes me angry. This whole lockout is just stupid.
