Pro Basketball players should organize their own league.

First there were some comments left in another fanshot.

Then I stumbled upon this article about Amar'e Stoudamire publicly considering a new league created by pro players.

The point is this: players have talent that is irreplicable.

Imagine the worst player in the NBA. Then imagine the NBA where the best player in the league was worse than that guy.

That's how it would be, at least for a while. New players coming from college or overseas would choose between the NBA, and the new league. Some would choose the established league, the other would consolidate support behind the player-created league. And I would be willing to bet that the shame of choosing your own economic best interest over the solidarity of a cause that is purely capitalist in nature--if labor is unhappy, they can find another job, or in this case, create a different league.

It's a thought everyone should seriously consider. Stranger things have happened.
