Why the Blazers do it: The upside of Batum's game is the main loss here. The reward is great, however, as we become better at the PG and C positions. Imagine a starting lineup of Harris, Matthews, Fernandez/Murphy/Cunningham, Aldridge, Lopez.
Why the Nets do it: The Nets want Melo and want to unload Murphy's contract. They would need a decent return for losing Harris which they receive in Miller. Perhaps a cheap center could be included from the Blazers or Nuggets to help make up for the loss of Lopez.
Why the Nuggets do it: The Nuggets want some sort of return for Melo before his contract expires and have expressed interest in Batum as a replacement. Camby, an ex-Nugget, could coexist with NeNe or take the starting center job from him.
Considering all the speculation and rumors circulating around the NBA, and the Blazers current predicament, this trade makes sense. I feel there are incentives for each of the three teams to make the trade happen. So, what do you think BE? Could this trade happen and would it be the right move for our Blazers?
