Melo wants to go to the Knicks. Denver wants to deal with the Nets. To further complicate matters Wilson Chandler the Knicks best piece doesn't want to go to Denver. So the question for all teams in the NBA is how can we help get Melo and LaLa to Madison Square Garden?
Denver would get whatever picks the Knicks have that they want, the Nets pick from GSW , the Nets pick from this year or next and 2 picks from Portland.
Portland gets their PG of the now and future, a potential Camby understudy, a solid all around wing player and trade one red hot 3 point shooting Latin for another. On the negative Portland gets a bad but not yet horrible Harrington contract, and we lose our beloved Frenchman to a hated rival.
Denver gets a handful of draft picks, a ton of cash coming off the books and a pair wings to team with Lawson
NJ gets a young very good wing player, a veteran name PG to bring into Brooklyn, and they get to keep Favors and hang on to some draft picks
NYK gets Melo and the shaft
The question is how desperate are the Knicks to get Melo? Do they want to chance Melo resigning with Denver if the trade deadline passes and the idea of losing 30 million starts to sink in with Melo. Does the Miami experiment tempt the Knicks to think that Stoudmire, Melo, and Felton are a big enough 3 to drag any bunch of scrubs into title contention? I hope so.
