Oden: Keep or Swap?

The Media Day news about Greg Oden's tendinitis adds another straw of frustration to the back of the Blazer Fan camel. I've read that tendinitis is not uncommon during the recovery process of an injury like his and Greg may well make a full, if slightly delayed, recovery. If he does, and if his health finally stabilizes, and his game progresses to a Dwight Howard-like level or better, the Blazers will have a force at center and a huge advantage over most teams in the league.

If this latest minor setback is just another in a long string of injuries that Greg is doomed to endure in his NBA career, then the pick of Greg Oden over Kevin Durant will prove to have been yet another wasted #1 pick in Blazers history. Teams don't get many #1 picks. Those that get it right usually do well with them. Those that don't seldom become contenders.

The truth is that we don't know how the Oden pick will play-out this year or down the road.

We do know that Kevin Durant is already a top player and looks to be on the fast track to numerous MVP trophies and scoring titles. He may even win one or more championships. If he stays healthy, he already seems like a shoo-in to the Hall of Fame.

Even without Durant, we still have Nic Batum, who is becoming a solid SF and may become an All-Star if we're lucky, so it's not like the absence of Durant kills us at that position.

I am curious to know what everyone else thinks about the Oden pick now. Given what we've seen and Greg's current condition, and keeping in mind what a finally healthy GO could do for the Blazers, how many of you would swap GO straight across for KD if that were possible?
