Our long Blazer summer vacation is finally coming to a close. We will have something real to talk about next week as training camp starts and pre-season games follow. We'll soon be making predictions about how well the Blazers will do next year.
But it's child's play to predict won-loss records and championships. Can you predict this year's Big Surprise? What Blazer Player, GM, or Cable Company will do the unexpected this year?
Here's a Poll of Potential Surprises that I wouldn't expect to a happen, but are more likely than losing 311 player-games to injury like last year. Which of these do you think is most likely to happen? Or provide your own Blazers Big Surprise of 2010-11 in the comments.
Poll
Which of these Blazers Surprises is most likely to happen this season?
The Blazers allow Comcast or KGW to televise 2 or more preseason games (not counting FanFest). (They televised none last year.) (7 votes)
Comcast makes a deal with DirecTV to televise CSN-NW by the end of the season. (Did I just see a pig fly by?) (4 votes)
Oden plays 70 or more regular season games. (That's 85.4% of a full season.) (57 votes)
Brandon Roy plays PG for 10+ minutes a game - without Bayless or Miller on the court. (Did Brandon slim down and lose weight with a secret plan to finally play the point?) (11 votes)
LMA averages 10 or more rebounds a game. (That's a 25% increase over last year.) (28 votes)
LMA makes the All-Star team. (Would that make 2 Blazers in the All-Star game?) (32 votes)
Batum makes the NBA All-Defensive 1st Team. (It's going to happen eventually, right?) (20 votes)
Andre Miller answers 10 or more fan questions at Media Day (last year he agreed to answer 5 - sorta). (5 votes)
Andre Miller is traded by the Feb trading deadline. (He's looking pretty safe now to stay a Blazer all year, but will that change?) (15 votes)
Cho trades someone other than Rudy before opening night. (That's 32 days away and counting down.) (7 votes)
Patty Mills is a Blazer on opening night. (Patty's coming to training camp, will Paul Allen save him again?) (6 votes)
Luke Babbitt averages 12 or more minutes a game. (Cunningham averaged just 11.2 minutes in a season full of injuries last year.) (6 votes)
Rudy Fernandez averages 20+ minutes a game and plays at least 20 games for the Blazers. (He averaged 23.2 minutes last season.) (24 votes)
Bayless takes over as starting PG by the end of the year - with Miller still a Blazer and not injured. (Is this his year?) (13 votes)
Oden plays on the Opening Night of the regular season. (Cho's latest word is that Oden will play sometime this season) (30 votes)
