Best Benches
I cam across this article on NBA.com
http://www.nba.com/2010/news/features/shaun_powell/09/01/NBAs.best.benches/index.html?ls=iref:nbahpt1
Shaun Powell has Portland as his third best bench, but for some reason has Nicolas coming of the bench... While he calls him one of the most underrated players in the NBA and as high energy as they come, Nico starts on this team. He also has Joel and Rudy on our bench, and while technically they still are, Joel is going to be MIA for a while and who knows what Rudy does.
What is everyone's thoughts on this ranking and assumption of the benches?

I like our bench this year
With Wes and Camby off the bench, that’s a lot of defensive energy off the bench, which I always felt we lacked. If we can give Bayless a scoring role off the bench, I think we’ll have good offense too.
But I really feel like our bench strength depends on Oden starting. Throw Camby into the starting role without a healthy Oden or Przy, then we become pretty undersized off the bench without a post presence on either end of the floor.
"OK Kids! Who wants a basketball? That's why I love my Chevy Silverado."
I don’t know if it depends more on Oden starting or him playing. If he is healthy enough to play I don’t know if we should start him right off the bat, get him some minutes off the bench and light a fire in him, plus let him get back into the swing of things and build some confidence is his own game. He would be a great defensive player to have with a Dante or JP playing the backup PF role until Joel gets back. One Go gets healthy and confident we can start him and play Camby with Joel.
Our bench ftw!
Didn’t read the article, but I see our bench as the second best in the league behind Orlando’s. Out 8-man rotation is perfect, but we have 7 guys behind them who could all be more than serviceable when given minutes. Our team would be bordering on wretched excess if not for the fact that 3 of our 5 starters are notoriously injury prone.
Proves to you
that not all people in the NBA pay enough attention to us. They don’t think Oden can succeed, they don’t realize how good our bench is(at least I don’t think), and yeah, like you said, Nic off the bench?
Yep. But it’s a fair rating. 3rd in the league for our bench.
Bad article. Nic is starting, he didn't mention Dante Cunningham, and he called Dallas the best bench in the league mentioning only 3 players.
I think we’re in the top 5 for sure. I’d rate Orlando highest.
You can measure skill and talent with your eyes, but productivity is shown through statistics.
