Beck: Agent Andy Miller Sued Successfully For Poaching Client

Howard Beck of the New York Times writes that Andy Miller, agent for both Rudy Fernandez and Andre Miller, has been successfully sued for "in essence, stealing a client" by another agent, Keith Glass. ----------------------------- Miller was ordered to pay $40,000 in damages. The sum is modest, but the judgment is noteworthy, marking one of the few times that an N.B.A. agent has been punished for, in essence, stealing a client. Agents complain about the practice all the time. But lawsuits are rare, and sanctions even more so, because cases are difficult to prove. ----------------------------- Beck also writes that, back in 2002, Miller was involved in another dispute over 16 clients (including Kevin Garnett and Chauncey Billups) that he later settled out of court "for an undisclosed sum". Miller recently threatened that Rudy Fernandez would not show up for training camp, which resulted in a fine by the NBA. -- Ben Golliver | benjamin.golliver@gmail.com | Twitter
