re: Are The Dog Days Over Yet? (hurryup09)

Tuff_medium

I read a recent fanpost by hurryup09 about The Dog Days of Summer. He noted that he was not attempting to generate discussion or suggestions, he merely wished to vent. However, I was interested to read the comments of others as to how they replace the void of basketball:

---> 420Phenom observed the fulfillment from FIBA and the World Championships

---> tominhawaii talked about playing football, which perhaps is best applied to playing any sort of sport or having a form of exercise as a replacement

---> hurryup09 touched on the fact that other sports like baseball and football could not satisfy him, but it is easy to see how for others they are viable alternatives to nothingness

I thought this could make an interesting fanpost all on its own. So my question to all of you is: how do you fill the void? Do you pick up a sport in the summer? Do you substitute watching basketball with baseball or soccer or football?

I was lucky to be busy with summer quarter this year, but I have struggled in the past. Playing basketball is excellent, but I do that all year, even when the Blazers DO play. I have tried following baseball, but I do not think I particularly like it as a sport (though I understand the enjoyment it gives others). For me the best source has been soccer: the Timbers are pretty bomb, and even though many make fun of American soccer as being inferior, I still love watching MLS and USL games. Now that college football has started, things are starting to feel better.

But let's talk about YOU. I want to read your thoughts and suggestions.

Discuss.

[pic related, it's the dog days of summer. .....  ..... .....

.... ....get it?]
