France vs Lith on now! World Championships

First quarter just ended, Nic has 9 points and 2 assists, and at least 1 rebound by my unofficial count. He once again has been called upon to start the offense, must like B Roy does for the Blazers, and he is playing well.

Nic had a nice 3 pointer to end the 1st qtr

as well as a couple of nice assists off drives into the lane, where he kicked it out for open 3’s. (which is where the B Roy comparison came from). France was up by 10+ after 1, now Nic is out of the game in the middle of the 2nd qtr, with 11 pts. Lots of turnovers in this game, including a few by Nic.

More 2nd qtr action

Nic is back in the game and is a terror on defense at the moment, causing 3 turnovers almost in succession.

France started really well

but has gone COLD! Ever since Batum went to the bench in the 2nd qtr, they haven’t been able to score or get any rythem.

You should be able to replay it.

I’d only watch the first half, though. It gets ugly in the second.

The FIBA boxscore appears to be more accurate...

Nic did play

pretty well in the 1st half, but once the Lilthuanian team came back in the 2nd half, and took the lead the French team started to scramble and play one on one, including Nic. He missed most of his pull up 3 point shots, which he took too many off for my taste, and his drives to the basket resulted in either contact, with no foul and no basket, or just a turnover when he passed out, (some his fault, others not at all, the french team has alot of brick hands).

Overall it was a tale of two halfs for both the French team and for our own Nic Batum.

France was awful in the 2nd half. They looked like a bad college team.

To be honest.

The boxscore says Batum was a horrible shooter.

In Bayless I trust.

it was a tale of two halfs,

look at the half time stats posted above, they jive with what I saw of Batum in the first half, he was under control, taking good shots, and running the offense for the French team. They went away from that in the latter part of the 2nd qtr, and continued it throughout the 2nd half, which cost them the game. They were up by 12 after 1 I believe, scoring 20+ pts in the qtr, they finished the half at 30 or close to, and never got their offense going again.

V. Turkey I believe.

Which pretty much means they are done, I’ve heard.

In Bayless I trust.

But that just means Batum was even more unbelievably atrocious in the 2nd. And regardless of decent play in the 1st half, that play was wasted on his failure in the 2nd.

In Bayless I trust.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.

OK, that should just about wrap up the goaltending discussion.
