1. New Orleans are really cheap. But they don't want to give up Chris Paul for nothing because that would lower the value of the entire franchise to essentially nothing. They ideally want a very young very cheap potential superstar in return. We don't really have that. But the Timberwolves might, if Ricky Rubio is all that. Which brings me to fact 2:
2. Rubio would rather stay in Barcelona all his life than come to Minnesota. Eventually Kaaaaaahn will admit this and try to get value for him.
3. Supposedly (okay, so these aren't very fact-y facts) Kahn offered the #4 pick for Batum. So he loves Batum. How much? Well, let's find out.
4. Minnesota could really use an actual defense-playing center. All of this adds up to this:
We get Chris Paul (for Batum, Miller, Rudy, Bayless, Joel)
New Orleans gets Ricky Rubio and his ol' pal Rudy, plus a bunch of expirings (some flippable) and probably $3M from us
Minnesota gets Okafor and Batum
Minny gets respectable, New Orleans gets a glimmer of hope and we get Chris Paul!
If New Orleans hadn't made it clear they won't trade Chris Paul, this trade would happen tomorrow!
(Oh, that and the fact that I think Minny already waived Delonte and Telfair...)
