DANNY YOUNG
(I’ve been waiting for this.)
He single handedly made and crushed all my childhood NBA dreams with that shot.
Born Naked
one sliver of the clock made all the difference in that one.
what a could have been if that shot clock had been somewhere besides the Palace.
Bassy
I remember being pissed that we packaged him for the #7 pick.

Oh man ...
Danny Young, all the way.
Besides the shot, he was such a stable presence as a non-flashy, but collected backup point guard on a quality team.
Plus, he would always loan you five bucks if you needed it. A gentleman and a scholar.
Bassy was Bassy.
After seeing the movie "Through The Fire"
I got to say ,I see Telfair in a different light.
Seems like a good kid. I hope he can find success somewhere in the league.

Danny Young.
“The shot” has been covered. But he and Danny Ainge made such a great second unit to give Clyde and Terry some relief.
I still remember how grumpy I was when Portland picked Telfair, 10 spots earlier than necessary. Pretty sure I yelled at the TV.
Danny Young . . . easily.
For his sweet ’stache and backup vocals with Jerome and TP on “Rip City Rhapsody.”

I've already voted, but thought I'd add this quick note:
Prospective players the Blazers gave up to get Telfair:
Al Jefferson
Josh Smith
Jameer Nelson (All Star appearance)
Kevin Martin
Beno Udrih
Anderson Varejão
Trevor Ariza
Players the Blazers gave up to get Danny Young:
Nobody.
Ouch. At least Telfair was useful in trade value on departure.
Roy is better than everyone on that list
so 20/20 hindsight favors the Telfair draft pick

Danny Young
I accidentally gave credit for that shot to Wayne Cooper in another scrubdown… even now I remember it being Cooper, but then again I was 9 and only started watching basketball during the Dallas series, so it’s easy to see how I could misremember it. Anyone have a link to video of that shot? I looked around on YouTube, but couldn’t find it.

Telfair
He helped us get Raef Lafrentz and some other guy.
Danny Young
Telfair was so highly hyped that our expectations were way too high so his failure for us was a major disappointment. I think, with him, we learned our lesson that straight-from-high-school superstars don’t always (or even often) turn into NBA superstars.
FWIW, I did see a Telfair jersey at the Beavers’ game last night – I think all the rest were Roy, Oden & Aldridge.
Danny Young
Never heard of him either but he’s got to be better than the first and last Blazers draft pick that got me excited. Thanks to him, I expect to be disappointed.

Telfair was the ultimate bust. You know you’re a bust if you can’t make it out of Starbury’s shadow

Danny Young vs. Sebastian Telfair?
That’s like bringing a gun to a “nice” fight.
Oh Sebastian. The quickness, the rookie swagger, the dream…..
Danny Young it is!
I still remember a playoff game we lost, inwhich Danny hit a 2/3rds court shot that would of forced overtime…unfortunately 1 second after the buzzer sounded. He looked so down. For enduring that pain…he easily get’s my vote to advance.

a playoff game?
that was the Finals baby! dang that was tough to take.
Sebastian Telfair
just because i liked his movie and I don’t know who Danny Young is.

I cried when the Blazers drafted Telfair.
I'll join the chorus...
…and vote for “NOT Telfair.”

I was at that game. They signaled it good. I’m not sure I’ve ever been more excited, till they waved it off.
I was pretty close. Gerald Henderson had the ball on the break-away with Detroit up 1, and Isiah was telling him – I could hear him, it was quiet! – not to lay it in. Precisely, I assume, because it created the possibility for what happened next.
I think it was Kersey who came barreling after the play and made the long outlet to Young. Not sure why Henderson was in the game. Cut me some slack, btw, I was 12….
