Blazersedge Scrubdown: Matchup #7
The Blazersedge Scrubdown marches on. If you don't know what's going on, read the block-quote in this post. Basically we've made a bracket out of Blazers nobody mentions as key figures but who were notable, however briefly and for whatever reason, during their Portland tenure. We're narrowing it down to figure out our favorite lesser-known player of all time. You can use any criteria you wish in casting your vote for one of today's two players, though emphasis should remain on their time as a Blazer. Leave a comment below with your favored players' name in the subject line and whatever explanation you wish in the body of the post.
Today's matchup features a couple of guys with great rookie seasons: Kelvin Ransey vs. Robert Pack. Comment away!

pac man
no disrespect ransey, but pack had t-shirts and people were super excited about that dude- like dairy queen glasses excited!
Ransey in a landslide
For their time in Portland Ransey was far more productive. 15 ppg and 7 apg were not too bad. The Portland Teams those years average 110 ppg. Pretty wide open exciting stuff. Mr. Buttersworth was eating it up in Portland…Yikes!!
Pack in Portland was 4 ppg and 1 apg….No comparison there. His best years were after the Blazers.
i like pac man
cause i am too lazy to look up ransey and i don’t remember who he is. plus his nickname is not as good as pac man. also, the pac man nickname is so obvious it might actually be not that cool now that i think about it.
"I told somebody to stop crying," Pendergraph said after the game. "Actually, I told them all to stop crying."
Pack - for sure.

I'll take Kelvin. (How many chances does Pack get at this?)

I was gonna say Pack because I heard of him before
Then I remembered that it was from another scrubdown.
Ransey
16.1 points, 7.1 assists in his second year – and .079 on 3s.
Besides, I remember Pack as a Nugget, from the upset of the Sonics.
Kelvin
Is this still the first round? Why does Pack-man get a 2nd shot?

didnt pack already go?

Ransey
At first I was going to vote for Pack because I remember being excited about him and not so about Ransey, but then I remembered I’d already voted for Pack once and I found this about Ransey:
Traded by the Portland Trail Blazers to the Dallas Mavericks for Wayne Cooper and a 1985 1st round draft pick (Terry Porter).
OK, it wasn’t what he did when he played for Portland, but what his play bought for our future…
Hmm....
Did someone hit the reset button on the Pac Man Game?
If I must I’ll go with Ransey on this one…he was really, really good for his short time here.
"Mother Nature started this fight, I think it's about time we ended it!"
Ransey
He played a more significant role when he was with the team.
So, in an effort to get Pack into the second round, may I suggest pairing him up with Ennis Whatley or Claude English?
Ransey
cuz I have no idea who he is (which has been why I don’t vote for some guys – trying to be even-handed)….

Pack had the best MC sound effects ever!
All the sounds from the Pac-Man game were in play after a made or missed free throw.
2-4 the who
I am blatantly hoping for a Pack vs. Pack finals.
Even though Kelvin was likely the better player, I can’t shake the sentimental attachment to Robert Pack. May his flat-top rise through all brackets.
Pack

Robert Pack
I know he’s not the better player as a Blazer, but as others have mentioned as well, I have an attachment to the players on that team.
Ransey
Pack seems more memorable from Denver and the what if factor instead of what he did as a Blazer. Although I do remember him throwing down a few times and really exciting the crowd.
