Great GREAT move on Indiana’s part to go after Collison. Never been a big Murphy fan myself. He’s a good player but that “it” factor just isn’t there.

I would bet a million dollars this deal doesn't happen the way it's currently stated.
That’s a terrible deal for NJ.
Also, when was the last time a 4 way trade actually happened?

I guess I was wrong.
Pacers win big.

I'm sure a large part of this move was to signal that to the rest of the league.
Being a Blazer fan is not exactly healthy.
Im not trying to sleep on courtney lee or anything.
But why in the world does housten wanna do this trade?

They get some guard depth.
They were pretty stacked at the SF spot.

Because Ariza sucks.
In Bayless I trust.

I wonder if we could package Rudy and some others for Ariza?
That would be bitter sweet for Rudy.
My favorite teams are the Blazers and any team that is playing the Lakers.
I'd rather have Batum and Matthews play

If you don't mind me asking
why in the world would you rather that Matthews didn’t play?
fearless controlled aggression
because i think he is extremely over rated.
batum should be getting the lions share of sf min if you think hes a sf. roy should have the sg min if you see him as a sg (he played almost all his min at utah at sg see link below.) if you have any faith in bayless(i dont) then he will need minutes and i hope they dont come at pg. and i still think rudy can contribute to the team and is better overall then matthews. my favorite is when people say he shut down melo in the playoffs. he shut him down so well melo had better then season averages

except that there is already Batum, Roy and Matthews playing where Ariza would need to go.

I thought we were trading Batum for CP3?

My thoughts exactly, Jam Master Jay.
Ariza is a solid 3 and doesn’t really excel at any other position. Plus he’s a starter in this league. We’re already overpaying one guy [Matthews] to come off the bench. Don’t need another.

Rudy for Lee
was tossed around recently…could theoretically still happen with the Rockets as the trade partner

Great deal for Indiana
They’re basically turning an expiring Troy Murphy into Collison. That’s gold.
On the flip side, New Orleans is trading Collison for Ariza + a Posey contract dump. That’s not all that high a price. I would have expected them to ask more of Collison. They must be really high on Ariza.

Ariza
Adds quality wing talent who has playoff experience & doesn’t need to be the dominant ball handler.
Sell High On Aldridge
If your joining NO and think you will be handling the ball while CP3 is there
You’re crazy.

He can also take players out
from behind when your down by 30 in the 3rd
lol... I was thinking the other day about that and wondering if people's opinions have
changed now that Rudy is no longer the fan favorite. If you watch it again Rudy starts to flail before there is even contact. I think if he just concentrates on making a bucket and keeping his balance he doesn’t get hurt their. Instead he is perfecting his signature move (flailing around drawing a foul) although Ariza did make a dangerous play.
It's funny. I remember the slow burning transition that Rudy was getting when he became fan favorite to whipping boy.
I still blame Ariza a bunch for that foul. That foul is most likely what ruined Rudy’s sophemore year, physically at least.
Being a Blazer fan is not exactly healthy.
It was definitely a flagrant 2
And he played in pain for the next 8 or so months before he got surgery.
So, no change in opinion.

Plus
Ariza has a reputation now for losing his cool.
Yea, I totally disagree with this statement.

you got to at least admit that is Rudy's signature move.
remember the Birdman block? Rudy tried his rookie season but last year he just looked to try fouls when driving. Just my opinion though.
keep hunting

The Hornets are hoping that the addition of Ariza addresses Paul’s concerns about the team’s commitment to winning by showing that they’re willing to spend money to get better. Ariza signed a six year, $35 million dollar deal with the Rockets last summer.
Bahahah!!!

They are still stacked at the SF spot.
Ariza, Peja, Wright and Pondexter
Being a Blazer fan is not exactly healthy.
The just traded Wright to Toronto
They’re getting Marco Belinelli in return.
not sure I'd call that 'stacked'
Ariza is good, but Peja is broken down, just a giant expiring contract, and as mas mentioned, Wright is already out the door.
Heard the news.
Maybe stacked wasn’t the proper term, I’d consider it more of logjam. Peja was broken down but he still played, like the rest did. That was a problem which now has been remedied.
Being a Blazer fan is not exactly healthy.
I don't know
I like Ariza as a quality role player, but its not exactly like bringing in Pau Gasol. The Hornets just traded in their big chip (Collison) for a guy the Lakers and Rockets didn’t feel much need to keep around. Neither team got much for letting him walk.
They still have PSEC (Peja’s expiring contract), but as others have pointed out, the expiring contract may not be worth anything this year with a lockout and/or new CBA coming up.
I don’t think they are any closer to being serious title contenders than they were yesterday, and if I’m Paul I’m happy they aren’t hedging against me by keeping Collison, but I’m still not enamored with the roster.
I don't think this makes NO's any better
this year or in the future. The impact Ariza brings will just off set the impact that Collision and Posey brought. Ariza is not that good, he had a good playoff performace 2 years ago, and got himself a big contract. Last year he was terrible for the Rockets, which is why they were eager to ship him out of town.
All this shows me is that NO’s is trying to show Paul they are trying. Still if I’m Paul, I will see this as just window dressing, the Hornet’s cap space is still a mess, their ownership situation hasn’t changed, and they still need a starting 2 guard, and a some semblance of a bench, and now they have no attractive trade pieces to acquire them, and no cap room. They are still stuck as a borderline playoff team, with no future, and he will still leave in 2 years unless they can change that.

big
mistake by NO. arizas gonna make all the difference for cp3 to stay? LOL! did they really just trade collison? in other news rashweed got let go by the C’s.
Mills to NO
Patty should go to New Orleans, they’re a one PG team and play more at his pace (from a fellow Marist Canberra student and someone who played with his dad Benny).

I'm sure Cho knew Collison was available since we've been talking to NO about CP3 for weeks.
So either Cho didn’t want him at all, or he didn’t want to make a more attractive offer. My guess – he didn’t want to make a more attractive offer.
