I noticed the other day that, according to Basketball Value web site, Brandon Roy has the lowest adjusted +/- amongst all the Blazers starters over the last year (it is not negative, just not as high as I thought/expected). And after thinking about it, I find it a bit troubling. I don't think any injury issues can be used as a strong excuse, as this is a 2 year measure.
Is his defense that bad? Does he rebound poorly for a shooting guard? He is pretty efficient on offense, so I doubt it is that, but something is going on. Perhaps having him play as a SF is a really bad idea. Curious to know if anyone has some ideas/evidence as to what is going on? I mean, even Aldridge has a better adj +/- than Roy - which really surprised me.
Yes, adjusted +/- has it problems, but at the least this should raise some questions.
Just something to think about.
