The #2 pick in the 2008 draft was just traded for a future 2nd round pick
Wow! I really cannot believe Michael Beasley was just traded to the Wolves for a likely low second round pick...and that is all. Unbelievable! It's not like he is making max money or anything...he is still on his rookie contract and only played two seasons. That could be a coup for Minnesota.
UPDATE: It appears that the Heat and Wolves have agreed to swap future 1st round picks as well. That could make this deal a little more even.

He wasn't playing that bad!
He averaged over 14 points and 6 boards a game in his second season.
Total Bust
There is no doubt he has boatloads of talent.
I would think he is easily worth taking a flyer on. It literally cost the T-Wolves nothing to get him.
At times when he was focused he looked like Carmello Anthony
Shame he couldn’t put it together and is now labeled a bust. We’ll see what he can do with a fresh start.
I'm pretty sure the bigger issues are off the court
Honestly, I haven’t heard any specifics, but all of the major media guys have alluded to it. And of course, we know he had major off-court issues in high school and college (drugs, crime, lazy, etc.). Whatever the off-court issues are, an ESPN panel—I don’t recall who at the moment—was just saying that he was probably beyond saving. Pretty startling considering his age and talent level.

Off-court issues have actually been relatively minor
Some low-level marijuana problems and rehab, no charges. The bigger problem is that he’s just completely undisciplined. It seems like Frank Martin was able to keep him in line relatively well at K-State, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the Heat have found it harder. He really needs a disciplinarian to stay on top of him, but that kind of coach might rankle other, more responsible players.

poor Martell
he’s more buried now than he was with the Blazers
When reached 40 years of following Portland basketball you have, be as passionate of the Trail Blazers you will not!
I think David Kahn learned everything he knows about roster building
from watching Bob Whitsitt, back in the late ’90s

roster building or not
you simply can’t beat the deal they got. miami had to dump salary and minnesota was the beneficiary.
every team with caspace had the opportunity to acquire Beasley, if that was the asking price
Kahn took a flier on the head case because the Wolve’s GM is obviously not a chemistry major

Apparently Kahn agreed to swap future firsts with Miami
That could be a very high price to pay.

We should see the wolves in the wcf next year? :)

Martell wont be burried.
They plan on playing him as a shooting guard. Beasley is the one thats burried. he will be playing behind love and jefferson.

Webster as a SG?
I guess they think Martell will be the next K*be in their triangle offense, then?
I think he’s going to struggle to play more than Brewer and Ellington (much less Wes Johnson) but we’ll see

Well, Portland got played on that deal
Lost Martell, and I’d bet that was planned all along by Minny.
Wait, how does this affect us?
Disclaimer: everything I know about basketball I learned on Blazersedge.
can't you tell?
It’s a clear sign that CP3 is about to come to Portland!

Oh my geez.
I don’t know why Kahn would do something like that…but then again should I be surprised? It’s David Kahn….
Being a Blazer fan is not exactly healthy.
how is he still a GM there? All I hear is how horrible and zany he is.
It seems he self depricates as much on sports shows, it’s very odd.
OSU '06
Trade for Gerald Wallace!!
plenty to bag on Kahn about, but not this
you got a great talent for a conditional 2nd round pick. That’s a very low-risk move, with a ton of potential payoff. If it doesn’t work out, you lose nothing. If it does, homerun
"I want to be traded to a contender" is almost always code-speak for "I'm a loser."

Aren't they going to swap a future 1st round pick as well?
That would certainly balance things out a bit more.
What does this mean
For Kevin Love? Means he should be a Blazer
Aldridge is overpaid.

The amazing thing is
back in 2008, there were a few posters here who suggested that Beasley might even be better than KD…
