Vande HEY WE do NOT need Kiki Part 2
First off, Portland doesn't need Kiki Part 2.
As a player, Vandeweghe was regarded as a poor defensive player and rebounder, but an excellent scorer and outside shooter. His offensive repertoire was essentially limited to a single move, the jab step. Limited player.
In the summer of 1984, Vandeweghe was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for Calvin Natt, Wayne Cooper, Fat Lever, and a first round and second round draft pick.
Natt, a SF, was our leading scorer. He finished his career with 17.2 ppg, 6.8 rpg.
Lever, a PG, finished his career with 13.9 ppg, 6 rpg, 6.2 apg.
Cooper, a Center, finished his career with 7.9 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 1.5 bpg
Vandeweghe, a SF, replaced by Jerome Kersey, due to his back injury, finished his career with 19.7 ppg.
In trading Lever, it did find us drafting Terry Porter in 1985.
Some could say good fortunes came despite trading for Vandeweghe: his injury, opened the door for Kersey, and our drafting of Porter the next years draft.
It wasn't a good move back in 1984, drafting Bowie over Jordan, because Jordan played the same position as Vandeweghe. And we coughed up Cooper, even still after losing the coin flip and losing out on the Hakeem Olajuwan sweepstakes, we still went after a Center. Then we also still coughed up the mentioned three above for Vandeweghe. We already had Kersey still, so maybe Porter we wouldn't have drafted? Who knows.
In management, Vandeweghe has been about as poor an office executive as he was a defensive NBA player.
Kiki initially had a front office role with the Dallas Mavericks, where he was instrumental in the development of fellow countryman Dirk Nowitzki. During his time in Dallas, Kiki also briefly served as an assistant head coach. On August 9, 2001, Vandeweghe was named to the Nuggets' general manager position and oversaw a return by the Nuggets to the NBA playoffs. Major moves by Vandeweghe have included the drafting of Carmelo Anthony in 2003, the trade for Marcus Camby in 2002 and the hiring of George Karl as head coach in 2005. However, some other moves by Vandeweghe have backfired outright or failed to produce the desired returns, such as the drafting of draft bust Nikoloz Tskitishvili in 2002 and the sign-and-trade deal with the New Jersey Nets to acquire Kenyon Martin at the end of the 2003–04 season. Shortly following a first-round playoff elimination at the hands of the Clippers in the 2006 playoffs, the Nuggets announced that Vandeweghe's contract would not be renewed.
On December 31, 2007, Vandeweghe would join the team as a special assistant to team president and general manager Rod Thorn.
On December 1, 2009, Vandeweghe replaced Lawrence Frank as head coach after the Nets started the 2009–10 season with 16 consecutive losses, while serving as the assistant to Rod Thorn.
After Nets ownership changed hand, Mikhail Prokhorov announced that Vandeweghe would not return the following season.
So why do we want this turd? I think I just threw up in my mouth a lil bit.

I agree completely
Dave or Ben said it best when they asked the question that if we had proposed a stright up trade at the start of the last season for a K.P. for Kiki Gm trade i suspect your acct would be banned, calls would be placed to homeland security to verify that your not a terrorist, and you would forever be banned from attending a live game.
Fast forward to today and we are the very real verge of actually have that happen minus the trade ofcourse. This has been one of the stupidest line’s of event’s i have ever been a party too. It would seem to me that if i had to replace someone i would A. retain them until i had a equal or better talent to replace them with or B. fire them but with the understanding that finding someone of equal or greater talent would be fairly easy to find.
Paul Allen and the powers that be pee’d in the koolaid and are now going around asking G.M.s to take a sip….Presti? Buford? The logo? who the heck are they kidding, are living in a fantasy that one of these top G.M.s would subject themselves to the possability of being treated like K.P. was. They are finding good/great G.M.s wont touch us with a ten foot pole so they HAVE to target turds like Kiki. Sad, so sad.

and you cant really give him credit for drafting anthony
he was the consensus number 2 pick
Michael Jordan is the Nicolas Batum of America

And Melo was passed up by Detroit with the second overall pick for Darko
If Carmelo hadn’t slipped into his hands, for all we know he would have passed on DWade and Bosh and gone straight for Darko or Sweetney.
I can think of about 100 people I would rather have steering the ship in Portland besides Kiki.
Brandon or myself being two of them. Heck I’ll even include Jay Jensen in the list just to show how ignorant/loathful of Kiki I am
completely forgot about darko

When he was a player
He was traded to the Knicks for a #1 draft pick in 1989, for which we picked Byron Irvin, who lasted one year in Portland and only three years in the NBA.
Vandeweghe is WORTHLESS.
Kiki as a player
was the most defenseless pile of dirt I have ever seen.
Kiki as a coach was equally awful.
I actually have no complaints for Kiki as a GM though. Bring it on.
I'm gonna be the only A-hole that owns a Nic Batum jersey that doesn't live in France. Awesome.
