LeBron to announce on ESPN Thurs at 6pm PST
Wonder which ESPN "analysts" we will get to watch drool all over the self-proclaimed King?

I'm actually hoping he throws everybody a curveball and signs in Greece
to help ‘promote his global brand’.
Treat people well because Karma can hit you at any second.
What the hell?
Who the hell does he think he is? Just announcing is decision on ESPN? There are certain things that rub me the wrong way and this is one of them. It’s like he thinks he’s better than the game or something.

is he going to have 3 ball caps sitting on a table in front of him?
The Huskies know how that routine goes…

Yeah, there's absolutely nothing wrong with going to ESPN and saying:
“Hey dedicate 1 hour for me to see where I’ll go! Sounds super fun!”
Does that no sound ignorant? selfish? douchey (excuse the language)?
I mean it rubbed me the wrong way a lot, there’s a line that he’s been flirting with this whole free agency period and a year before that and now i think he’s successfully crossed that line with this ESPN Special.
maybe they can get Regis to help build the drama?

Would MJ do something like this? Kobe? Heck, even Shaq didn't (though he might if he was in his prime now)
It smacks of self-promotion, which isn’t surprising coming from a self-annointed egomaniac who refers to himself in the third person.
"I want to be traded to a contender" is almost always code-speak for "I'm a loser."

MJ did the baseball thing
and basically thumbed his nose at the league to pursue a whim
S’ good to be King

Yeah but MJ won 3 championships and felt like he had no competition.
Plus, the Looney Tunes characters need his help to defeat Moron Mountain. DUH.

but i’ll probably tune it… maybe

Im not even gonna say anything about him coming off as an ass
We all know who he is by now so we shouldn’t get riled up every time. It will be a really exciting moment though when he pauses to announce the team name
WITH ODEN ON OUR SIDE
Like the moment right before I saw Star Wars: Episode I
And just like that, it’ll be terribly anticlimactic afterwards. Because of course non-stop analysis will ensue… and since LeBron hasn’t won a championship yet, we will all argue incessantly about whether he’s improved his odds or not.
Like the Whos down in Whoville they did it without boxes or ribbons or bows, they did without centers or posting down low. They won without All-Stars and Spaniards and Frenchmen. They won with old geezers and sub-par defense-men. They won playing rookies from deep off the benches. They won with their grit and their guts in the trenches. And some who observed them have been known to say that their hearts grew three sizes (at least!) on the way. One hopes with their poise and their passion now proven that once they are healthy their game will be groovin'.
Unreal
If he is really having a big internal struggle on where he should play, then by all means he should take his time. It’s his life and future. If, however, that is not the case and he already knows what he wants to do (which i believe), then for the love, GET IT DONE! I was excited to see what would happen initially, but find myself caring less and less as my respect for Lebron takes a hit. ESPECIALLY if he remains in Cleveland. I’ll feel even more like this whole process was a complete waste of everyones time.
p.s. cracking me up two4larue
just a Duck fan enjoying a cruel chuckle at UW's expense
UO finally signed a head BB coach, and the same headhunting dude is filling the Blazer’s GM chair with the same sense of urgency

Sounds like he's going to stay in Cleveland then
The other 59 minutes will be used as PR. Telling the nation he loves his hometown oh so much and that his heart is the size of a watermelon.
Treat people well because Karma can hit you at any second.
Ouch
If his heart is really the size of a watermelon, Cleveland should be worried about keeping him.
"OK Kids! Who wants a basketball? That's why I love my Chevy Silverado."
I hear they've got pills for that, now

Don't Blame Lebron Or ESPN
They are both business that are only giving the market what it wants.
While many fans actually don’t care enough to tune into ESPN ad nauseum, apparently there are many fans that will.
Let him announce it where ever he wants to announce it. Let him proclaim whatever free speech and decency will allow. It won’t affect my day in the slightest. I’m already sick of the coverage — and it is pathetic that apparently there is enough overall fan interest in him that this coverage is warranted.
Well, throw the guy a bone...if you look at it like his biz people told him it'll help promote him, help his global appeal, make more money overall...
…and he’s just doing it bc his experts say the coverage will help him be more of an icon, make more world wide $$$, then why do we care?
The way I look at it, is this, we don’t fault business men who say I want to be a millionaire, who say I want my company to make more money, ect, so why do we fault LBJ for being upfront about “I want to be a billionaire"…
…well, honestly, I do think he gets an unfair double standard compared with straight up biz people…but…
lol, even as I write this, I am realizing I hate the greedy corporate America mentality that will do anything to get a buck, open up a sweat shop in Mexico, keep American labor rates down so that the CEO can pull in another 30 million…
…maybe I take that all back already on LBJ, idk, greed is bad, pride is bad…and maybe I just want to be optimistic, and think LBJ “maybe” is just trying to make as much $$$ as possible to give it all to Africa… o boy… I am offtrack of my sports post, lol
Hey, some of us fault all those people
Disclaimer: everything I know about basketball I learned on Blazersedge.
You realize that high American labor rates...
are the cause of all sorts of ills. They lower the employment rate and make it too expensive for products produced in America to compete in the global economy, thus harming the economy and further reducing the demand for American labor. As long as labor is significantly cheaper elsewhere in the world, it doesn’t help us to have high wages.

Wow. Just... wow.
I don’t understand what could possess LeBron to think this is a good idea.

he never got a chance to declare what college he wanted to attend
so better late than never, for this big kid who likes the spotlight

finally! someone will make a decision!
what is ESPN going to fill the 58 minutes with?? ESPN: All Lebron, All the time.
Go to Heaven for the climate, Hell for the company.
58 minutes of commercials, of course....
"You be realistic," Oden said. "I’m going to stay happy. All right?"
I Lebron James am here to announce I will be signing with...
The LA Slippers. I think I would have coronary from laughing so hard. Honestly, this seems a bit much for an NBA announcement. Maybe the dude should have put this in movie theaters or pay per view (I know he wants to be a billionaire more than anything after all).
Maybe they could use the hour to let America call in and vote.
We could all tell that egomaniac where to go.

Ugh, when will this summer of lebron be over?
Also, yep, still wouldn’t want lebron on the blazers. i wonder how many bedgers will make fun of me now for saying this?
"Nicolas! You're the strongest boy in the world!"
can you imagine the media fawning that we'd have to put up with?

I used to want LeBron.
Now I completely agree with do. I’m so sick of free agency.

Interesting...
It’s completely wrong for LeBron to do this, but fine for 17 and 18 year olds to do it every year?

Indeed...
Let me know the next time a 17-year-old kid has a 1 hour special on ESPN that’s all about him announcing his college choice.

I wouldn't know,
I don’t watch the signing day specials. But I don’t get my panties in a bunch over it either.
I’m sorry if LeBron’s decision interferes with a wnba game or a 4 hour yankees thriller, but this is the biggest thing in American sports right now.

I think nobody likes the idea because he's not going to take Portland's MLE.
If we had a chance, I think we’d be glued to the Radio/TV/Internets/Telegraph.

For, besides continuing thus to soften body and mind, as these commodities had lost almost all their pleasantness through habit, and as they had at the same time degenerated into true needs, being deprived of them became much more cruel than possessing them was sweet; and people were unhappy to lose them without being happy to have them." -Jean-Jacques Rousseau

And how do you know he won't take our MLE?
The only way to find out is to watch the special! The suspense is killing me!
We'd still hate ourselves for it.

Which makes us pay attention all the more.
More attention means more advertising. More advertising means more money. And more money means we’ll pay attention. It’s a vicious cycle of ever-increasing voyeurism and marketing.

I hope this whole thing comes off as embarrassing and shamelessly ego-massaging as Chuck Norris’ show.
If he stays in Cleveland the hero-worship is going to be unbearable.

I will not watch it.
I think that should be the boycott ESPN hour. Or boycott all of television hour. I did not get cable to watch LeBron get hummer from Chris Broussard.
Can we start a BE petition to NOT watch the King’s announcement?

He's donating the money to charity
so I guess there’s that. It’s egregious self-promotion, but he is pretty good at basketball. Sigh.
