mickeal pietrus

lets get em

Star-divide

the dude is a great player to have on any team. He plays D, and he can hit the trey and he is athletic. I dont know what his salary is, but i would love to have rudy for him. Wouldnt Orlando do this trade so they can have another shooter around Dwight? Anyway "the flying frenchman" has playoff experience, we saw that when we was a key backup for the Warriors team and the Magic in the playoffs. But I really can't remember if he is a CLUTCH shot maker.

I would love it if we could get Pietrus.

Pietrus for Rudy?

That would be sweet. Only problem is Pietrus shoots the 3 just as well as Rudy, but plays defense like 1000 times better.

In other words...

why would Orlando do that trade?

by JasonT on Jul 5, 2010 12:17 PM PDT up reply actions

exactly

Pietrus is awesome all around. Sure he’d be great here, just like he is in Orlando on a championship caliber team. No way is going to come here.

And/or Matt Barnes

Barnes is a very nice player. Besides, I remember him shaking Roy’s hand when Brandon put 50 on the Suns on TNT.

In KP I trusted!

didnt matt barnes opt out of his contract?

i would love to have both of them. Orlando drafted Stanly Robinson, i think he can take mickeal defensive job

He's a free agent next summer

Might as well pick him up then if we need him.

There exists a quality which is nameless.

Someone brought up the point in another thread that Webster = Pietrus.

Actually, that seems like a fair comparison. They have the same usage rate on offense, minimal assist rates for wings, are subpar rebounders, decent everywhere else, and are desirable mainly for their decent defense. Their PER last season was roughly the same, which indicates they were possibly roughly around the same level of player.

Pietrus makes $5.3 million next season with a player option for another $5.3 million. Considering Martell makes $4.8 million next season and $5.3 million the following season with an unguarenteed third, I believe this desire for Pietrus only makes sense if you’d like Martell back. Martell offered the same production from the same type of player for the same cost. However, Martell was younger and came off an injury year to play 82 games, making him even better than Pietrus IMO.

This is all correct

If we liked Pietrus, we would have just kept Marty.

Still on the Rex bandwagon.

by dan_the_man on Jul 5, 2010 1:01 PM PDT via mobile up reply actions

Martell will give 'Wolves 16-18 points per game, 5-6 rebounds and great defense

We might never have seen all that Marty can do ’cuz of BRoy and Batum (both better players). But just watch— a healthy Martell with the opportunity and drive to prove himself will open a lot of eyes. He was one of my favorite Blazers, a true gentleman, a great teammate and I hope he thrives in Minnesota. He could be a borderline all-star in the years to come.

I'll miss him

The only difference is that Martell is more fun and Pietrus is French. I know which I’d rather have :).

by atomiccafe on Jul 5, 2010 4:32 PM PDT up reply actions

If Pietrus had better handles and could pay some 2-guard it would make more sense

but he doesn’t and he really can’t, so it doesn’t (make sense to pursue him, I mean)

would be a great back up 3

but maybe too expensive for that spot

by skott75 on Jul 5, 2010 12:42 PM PDT reply actions

we already had martell

Exactly

Pietrus and Webster are so similar

Get well Greg! Rip City is still behind you!

by axel360 on Jul 5, 2010 1:25 PM PDT up reply actions

ditto

It all comes down to how much he commands on the open market. It seems unlikely the Hawks can match offers. He is a no-brainer if we can pick him up for the MLE, but I don’t know if that is realistic with the money being thrown around. He is a fantastic sixth man for us because he can back up Batum … and even play 2-4 with right players surrounding him. We could just pencil Bayless, Childress and Camby in for our major backup minutes.
