“If any team could be a player for LaMarcus Aldridge, my money would be on the Cleveland Cavaliers. Acquiring Aldridge would allow the Cavaliers to shift Antawn Jamison over to small forward — which is a more natural position for him offensively — and refrain the people in Cleveland from ditching the franchise altogether by making it a lower-seed playoff squad. I, of course, would like to expand such transaction(s) into a three-team or four-team trade for Chris Paul, but that’s just me.

I watched WORLD’S GREATEST DAD, the Bobcat Goldthwait directed Robin Williams movie, because it was in my Watch Instantly queueue and my friend saw it and I heard from SOMEONE that it was good.

It was one of the lamest movies I’ve seen in quite some time. I know it felt like part of it was shocking, which made it more lame, and it took itself so serious and was so unrealistic. Ugh.

I am cleansing the palette with GI EXECUTIONER, a 1976 Troma movie (but before they were cartoonishly trashy with the movies they produced). Seems pretty rad. I think the Netflixers should put on a watch instantly movie, a bad one, and we watch it and comment here.

But yet, I’m really hoping “The Other Guys” doesn’t completely suck. I could enjoy a fun buddy-cop movie, and I at least appreciate the premise.

And I chuckle at the “desk-pop” scene in the trailer, which is probably the only funny scene in the movie.

I am watching GI Executioner. It’s pretty cool. I didn’t know the history of it; just thought it seemed rad. It was filmed in 1971, all shot on location in Singapore, but not shown in theaters until 1984. By then Singapore had been cleaned up, so the seediness in the movie is gone.

The movie has a genuine seediness, in a good way. The action hero is poorly chosen and it’s just an exploitation movie, but I like ’em.

Here’s a good description via IMDB—

An overly complicated storyline depicts Dave (the hero) taking the assignment because Chinese “businessman” Mr. Lim may have his claws into the defector in order to vend his expertise to the highest bidder, assisted by Lim’s mistress Mai Lee (Vicki Racimo) for whom Dave carries a torch from their former affair.

In the course of searching for the missing researcher, Dave becomes entangled with and beds several avidly willing females, while other bodies of the deceased sort pile up following a string of shootings, and we are given a surfeit of material detailing Dearborn’s past as a cocaine addict, murderer for hire, and undercover homosexual!

Filming is in Singapore, completed in 1971, but the piece was not released until Troma, a company specializing in exploitation features, offered it in 1984; there is, therefore, some interest within the production for its footage along the city’s Orchid Road, Sago Lane and, in particular, Bugis Street with its swarms of transvestites, all given the kindness of being cleaned by the regime of Lee Yuan Lew subsequent to the movie’s completion.

Aside from this historic significance, little remains of value as the picture suffers from pronounced flaws in continuity and logic, in addition to generally shabby production values under the direction of schlockmeister Joel Reed, with a cast of largely, and thankfully, unknowns. Racimo is an able actress but here is wasted, as during one rather fantastic scene when, after her character dispatches her current squire by shooting him to death, including a close range finishing shot to the head, she then gives in to the demands of lust with Keena’s character, the pair thrashing about amid four recently slain evildoers; there is precious little by way of interpretation that can be provided in such an instance.
