If my good Trail Blazers cant trade for CP I'm pulling for Bayless to earn the starting spot.
Nothing against Miller I just see it as an easier path to defeating the Lakeys. The Lakeys seem to be the team to beat again. If Miller gets off to a slow start and Bayless comes a roaring I hope Nate isnt afraid to pull the trigger. To beat the urine and lavender they are going to outplay two positions and rock the bench.
Kobe is better than Roy
Artest and Batum are a push. Artest has the experience Batum has the upside and shot.
Gasol should have an edge over Aldridge but Aldridge always plays him straight so I give Gasol a slight edge. Camby should also help keep this one close
Oden and Camby or Oden and Pryz tops Bynum. As long as Oden is there thats a mean combo.
So you have two slight edges to the urine and lav and one to the Trail Blazers. Bench goes to Portland too. Sorry Odom. So what you are left with is a win for the urine and lav if the Trail Blazers cant hold the PG matchup and hold it strong. The urilav have too much chemistry. You cant win a stalemate.
If it comes down to who can outplay Fisher I have to go with Bayless. Phil Jackson's teams have always matched up well against pure PGs. Fisher would rather face a player that comes to him like Miller. Miller punishes smaller guards so the more he gets to face Blake the better.
Bayless could make Fisher look old. Thats the type of advantage that my good Trail Blazers are going to need.

If we had a healthy Greg and healthy Brandon, an improved Nic, the same old Lamartha to give Greg some space,
I think Dre is just fine to go to battle with the Lakers. Greg is the key. Also, sounds like Blake will be their third guard or even starting PG ( wow. think about that. Steve Blake, starting PG for a championship contender ), and we know Blake’s weaknesses all to well. IF we could get Nate to actually run some offense, just screen Blake to death until someone is wide open.

I guess that would put an end to the Blake couldn't be PG on a championship team talk.
But I didn’t want to see him prove that there.

First off
Let’s see if Blake starts. I doubt it. Everyone here thought he’d be great coming off the bench, which I imagine him doing in LA. Secondly it doesn’t mean he could be a championship point guard on the Blazers. I doubt that as well. I like Blake but he wasn’t the one for us. Obviously.

Andre really showed a weakness in the playoffs
and that is the sf spot.
if batum can turn cold blooded and can make a team pay for putting a lesser defender on him, miller will be dangerous. with kobe and artest, they can have a lock down defender on both roy and miller. its up to batum to take advantage.
of course if bayless takes the starting spot from miller, then he went above and beyond to earn it and id be happy.
Portland could coast along with their superior talent and stay right with us. Now that Portland woke up, the hammer cometh down.
Bayless > Daffy Duck after 3 cans of rockstar
That was on Nate
With Batum’s length and shot the staf should have started teaching him how to post smaller defenders.
You didn't include enough about CP in here
"Knowledge will get you from A to B. Creativity will get you anywhere." Einstein
Andre is the starting PG
but there’s no reason that Bayless can’t play more reserve minutes early in the year, as Miller rounds himself back into shape
but Oden needs ’Dre to get him the ball. Camby will help with his high post feeds, as well
Jerryd is the 6th man candidate, by default. Come in off the bench and light a spark. I look forward to seeing Roy and Rex playing in the backcourt at the same time, because it’s been such a rare sight in the last 2 years…usually Andre or Blake were in the game as a 3 guard lineup
When reached 40 years of following Portland basketball you have, be as passionate of the Trail Blazers you will not!

That would be till about … February?

you really think batum has a better shot than artest?
all artest did on the offensive end was shoot threes,
yeah, Artest can have a pretty bad shot and bad shot selection
he’s so strong he’s great driving to the hole, but I’d prefer Batum’s outside shooting
You can measure skill and talent with your eyes, but productivity is shown through statistics.
We have matched up well with the Lakers and will continue to...
Its Denver and Utah that kick our behinds…. We cant build our team to defeat just one team… and at the level of play Bayless and Miller offered last year Miller is a much greater contributer. Now if Miller starts to decline and something clicks with Bayless then yay for us. But NBA starting pg is a tough role to learn and get comfortable with. Bayless has always played like a sg so he still has alot of work to do.

common you wanna screw things up again?
Miller and Oden are gonna be fun to watch. Last season because blake started over miller we didnt get to see the goodness. Miller can actually penetrate the paint and make smart decisions unlike bayless
WITH ODEN ON OUR SIDE
No,
Dre is a starter, Bayless is a prospect with a lot of potential. He runs in front of himself and gets way too excited down the lane. I think he will be great, but Dre is professional ball player who is great, and is a starter, and underrated IMO.
( sarcasm font on ) What?! If Blake can beat out Andre surely Bayless can! ( sarcasm font off )
