Patty Mills @ FIBA world championships

Looks like Patty is going to see some HEAVY minutes.

With mixed reviews from 2 of the scouts regarding Patty's future as a blazer from the scouts reports over the last week, it seems a lot will hinge on how he goes at the World Champs in August. (from either a signing or trade perspective) Despite Bens best efforts to extract more from them, Chad said he was being scouted and and Joe wasn't sure. In a stroke of luck from the Blazers perspective, Patty will now probably have to play the lions share of the point for all of Australia's games with the news that veteran point guard CJ Bruton has pulled out. CJ has pretty much run the point for Australia since Shane Heal retired. There has probably never been a better opportunity for Patty to show his wares again, either lifting his trade value or making him a must sign player providing (despite what a few people say around here) he plays to his ability to which i am certain he will.

People will also need to understand leading into the WC's that both Andrew Bogut and Nathan Jawai have pulled out of the Australia's team, leaving Mills and Houston's David Andersen the only NBA players. Given Australia now have a lack of size on the inside expect Pattys speed and shot to be a crital key in Australia's medal aspirations. Expect Brett Brown to call on a high tempo, open court game where Mills does the lions share of the scoring.
