I've been disgruntled since Kevin Pritchard was fired, but an article about how many free agents are resigning with their old teams has got me a little hopeful. The article is called "Free Agent: Time To Panic".
Several teams have flushed players and their contracts to get well below the payroll cap. They have traded good players for overpaid and injured players with expiring contracts. Rosters are depleted, leaving one or two star players, dumping needed role players just to roll the dice hoping to get Lebron, Bosh or Wade. If not they planned on getting a second teir all star. Many of the second teir allstars have either signed with there old team or are in serious negociations to do so.
GM's of the teams who shed play roll are starting to see their chances, and possible free agent all star signees, disappearing. I think a couple months from now GM heads will roll. This is good news for the blazers because if we wait we will have a larger crop of GM's to choose from.
another crazy idea after the jump
If Kevin Pritchard cools his heels for a while waiting for a GM job he could have his pick of the litter of jobs. His history will look impeckable. Not only did he build the blazers through the lottery he didn't fall prey to the greed of going after a super star in 2010. Some team like New York, Miami, Chicago,, Clippers ect... could grap KP to do what KP does best.
What do folks think about laying in wait for the GM heads to roll?
