John Wall wins Vegas MVP - No Blazer makes the All Tourney Team
John Wall wins Most Outstanding Player which is like the MVP. DeMarcus Cousins wins Rookie of the Month (Very weird that this wasn't Wall also, since he is a rookie and declared MVP). No Blazer made the All Tourney team. Here are the players that made the team:
John Wall (Washington)
DeMarcus Cousins (Sacramento)
Sam Young (Memphis)
JaVale McGee (Washington)
Reggie Williams (Golden State)
DeMar DeRozan (Toronto)
JJ Hickson (Cleveland)
Ty Lawson (Denver)
Dominique Jones (Dallas)
Derrick Caracter (LA Lakers)
Larry Sanders (Milwaukee)
Gani Lawal (Phoenix)
Jermaine Taylor (Houston)
Alonzo Gee (San Antonio)

Some questionable choices here.
I'm gonna be the only A-hole that owns a Nic Batum jersey that doesn't live in France. Awesome.
I watched some games
but not all. Of the guys listed that I actually watched play, I would agree with their selection. I saw Wall, Cousins, McGee, Young, Jones, and Caracter and thought all those guys deserved to be on the team.
how does someone who gets back 2 back 8 turnover games get mvp?
Cousins should have got it.

I think Cousins has a great chance at ROY
But he was very inefficient on offense during SL, in addition to turning the ball over a lot.
Still on the Rex bandwagon.
whoever guarded pendergraph when he went 3-111...

Im thinking Cousins will be a beast.
GREAT PICKUP for Sacramento. got rid of that annoying hawes for a real Center
WITH ODEN ON OUR SIDE
I was really impressed by Cousins
Hopefully for the Kings, his attitude problems are either overblown or something he’ll grow out of. They should be pretty beastly in a few years. I’m actually more afraid of them than I am of OKC.

That’s ridiculous, on several levels.

?
Core 3 of Evans, Cousins, and Landry versus Durant, Westbrook, and Green couple years down the road? Legit comparison especially since Green is not on the same level as the other 5 talent-wise and Kings have 2 legits bigs.
With the Kings, Evans and Cousins has to get along, though. That could be high comedy as the season go by.
"I think he’s been doing some good things. I think he’s been doing some good things. He’s had to play a lot of minutes lately with Blake being out. I think he’s been doing some good things." -Nate McMillan
Lets say Landy is the worst of the core of the Kings big 3, and true, he is definitely better than Green. But the gap between those two pails in comparison between the gap of Durant and any other player on either of the two teams. That’s far more frightening than Carl Landry.

Durant is one player.
And he is a wing, a position that traditionally doesn’t make or break a team unless the player has some other elite skill set. Yes, he is more talented than any player the Kings have (though we’ll see about Cousins), but the Kings have a team, and their most talented players play at the hardest positions to fill. An elite PG and an elite big man can take a team a long way by themselves.
automatic disqualifier
if you take a wait-and-see approach in determining who is better (between Durant and Cousins). Last year’s scoring champ vs. a rookie #5 pick who hasn’t played a game yet.

coulda made the same argument about a rookie #2 pick named durant when he came out if that's your angle
I actually agree that the Kings have a lot of promise right now and a more balanced, well-rounded team moving forward than OKC…that’s not to take anything away from OKC, but who is their center? How many games did they miss due to injury last year? And they still finished behind an injury-ravaged Blazer team. The OKC bandwagon filled up quick, but I would match rather be the Blazers than the Thunder right now. Whether I’d rather be the Kings than the Thunder? It’s hard to make that leap, but it’s not a ridiculous conversation.
I wouldn't say the gap is large between Evans and Durant, especially couple years down the road.
Of the two, Evans put up a better rookie year. Plus, Evans does have one skill that Durant will never be able to replicate, which is his ability to get to the basket at ease and finish. While Evans likely will never be the outside threat than Durant is, the easiest skill to improve over your career trajectory for a wing is outside shooting.
Of the two, Durant is close to his ceiling going into his fourth year. Given that a player’s biggest improvements tend to come in second and third year. Evans’ ceiling is likely just as high or higher than Durant. I’d say Evans is likely more offensively explosive version of B-Roy and likely put up an efficient 25-6-7 in couple years’ time.

Evans can't shoot.
IMO, Evan’s success will be limited to his ability to spread the floor and set up his dribble drives. Right now, he is guarded similarly as Rajon Rondo. Give him about 6 feet of space and don’t let him past you.

Not to mention Donte Green and Omri Casspi on the wings
Green might not pan out, but I see Casspi as an eventual starter, and Whiteside has potential as a defender. Probably none of them will be stars, but they have the potential to be excellent role-players, even if a few of them bust.
They have all the pieces to be really successful, it’s just a matter of developing the talent they have and making it work together properly, as you point out. It will be interesting to see whether this ends up being Evans’ team or Cousins’. With DC’s jumper and Reke’s ability to get into the lane and make plays, I can see them being good stylistic fits, though. Their personalities may or may not mix things up.
it's about his weight
I think the big worry about Cousins is that he goes the Oliver Miller/JaMarcus Russell route.
Cousins, per ESPN
“But we also saw Cousins’ immaturity and petulant body language. He jawed incessantly at opposing centers like Greg Stiemsma and nagged game officials with impunity. After shooting 45.8 percent over his first three games, Cousins went 9-for-45 from the field in his final three and also saw his rebounding totals sag. When the Kings’ coaching staff gave him instructions during huddles, Cousins pouted and looked away. Whether Cousins’ falloff was a product of poor conditioning, irritability or just self-disgust, one thing is certain: Cousins has more talent than advertised — and it’s going to be more difficult to harness than most of us realized.”
