Trail Blazers' Armon Johnson holds own against John Wall, furthering case to earn roster spot
Good write up on today's scrimmage vs. Washington and John Wall by Joe Freeman.
Update: Note the video posted by Douglast in the comments for some more insight on the scrimmage. Good stuff.

Nice. I like this kid. I hope he makes the roster.
I am firmly on team Armon. He looks to have more upside than previously thought.

now some video

But also,
Wall seems to fall a step or more behind other point guards on defense, from the tiny bit of footage I’ve seen, including this.
To my knowledge, Wall wasn't exactly a defensive standout in his sole year at Kentucky...
He was drafted to get points. Lots of points. So if he puts up a ton of points, and Washington succeeds, there won’t be a ton of critics. Once Washington struggles, well, expect tons of pressure to be put on John Wall by ESPN and the sports media at large.
Then again, they might just forgive him because John Wall is a saint who can do no wrong (yeah right, that spot is reserved solely for Tim Tebow).

Man this guy is getting so much love
He went from being resented like Dante Cunningham during the draft to already being our favorite draft pick this year.
The Kings have the best bench I’ve seen. There are easily 14 guys on this team good enough for every bench in the league. Now if we could only get some starters, I’d totally jizz in my pants.
Kings fan
I always thought Armon was under-rated in the draft.. better point prospect than Bledsoe or Bradley
Sadly I haven’t seen much of Williams yet, but I am not that high on Babbitt like others. But that is mostly because I feel you should be able to shoot and play D to be in the NBA – not one or the other. Very little love to guys who get burned on D, all they will be good for is garbage time.
if you didn't have guys that could do one much more effectively than the other
you would only have about a 1/3-rd the players available….

I didn’t quite laugh out loud, but I did the “exhale through your nose like you’re a bear” thing.
Ryan Gomes: forever a Blazer in our hearts.
I thought it was Paul Allen

When reached 40 years of following Portland basketball you have, be as passionate of the Trail Blazers you will not!
Let's not forget about the guard we drafted and signed...Elliot Williams
I feel for the guy having to sit out of summer league and watching his fellow draftees excel. How do you all think he will fit into the Blazer’s plans?
3rd string SG.
That’s all, for now.
You can measure skill and talent with your eyes, but productivity is shown through statistics.

if the blazers..
get there dream pg depending on who they trade, i dont see them having armon as the backup even if its cp3. meaning they would keep either bayless or miler. i want to see what E Williams can do also.
E Will is not a PG.
He maybe the size of one but he’s a SG.
I don’t know how people don’t know this. It’s not about size and measurements. It’s about skill set.
Being a Blazer fan is not exactly healthy.
I know nothing about him
why do you think he´s not a PG?
ball handling?
passing ability?
pg defense?
lefthand dominant, extemely athletic, weighs less than 200 pounds
go to the draft express website and you can read all about Williams, Johnson and Babbitt from the scouts who watched the videos from their college games

In an interview, Johnson said he modeled his game after Rajon Rondo and Russell Westbrook.
I’m a big fan of both of those PG’s and would love it if Johnson turns out like either.
Mills, on the other hand, mentioned in an interview recently that he models his game after Tony Parker. Also, not a bad player to model your game after.
