Does having Larry Miller in charge scare anyone else?
How this guy ever got to the position he is currently in I would just have to guess that he is one BIG suck up yes man to Paul Allen, doing whatever it takes to keep his job. He should be in no position to make any player personal moves as the toxic offer to Wesley Matthews proves, and I am afraid the Blazers are going to be stuck with it. Unfortunately he is leading the search for a new GM, although anyone he picks would have to have more basketball knowledge than him. If he has ever done ANYTHING positive in all his time with the Blazers I would really like to know, this guy scares me to death.

I am confident he knows what he is doing. We might not be able to see what the final result this will produce, but I truly believe that this is the first step to get the ball rolling. There is more to come. And if not we have GO coming back and a new explosive player in Wes Mathews!
He's failed at everything he's ever done.
That Air Jordan brand by Nike? Total failure.
The Blazers during his tenure as president so far? Worst team in the NBA.
So, I’m pretty sure he knows nothing about running anything successful. I’m sure he doesn’t have anyone who can advise him on basketball talent. Im sure David Kahn will look like a genius next to him.
Except none of those are true. Maybe he’s not the best equipped man for the job, but I don’t think he’s going to screw things up.
"[S]ince men enjoyed very great leisure, they used it to pursue many kinds of commodities unknown to their fathers, and that was that first yoke they placed upon themselves without thinking about it, and the first source of evils the prepared for their descendants. For, besides continuing thus to soften body and mind, as these commodities had lost almost all their pleasantness through habit, and as they had at the same time degenerated into true needs, being deprived of them became much more cruel than possessing them was sweet; and people were unhappy to lose them without being happy to have them." -Jean-Jacques Rousseau
Yeah from everything I've seen Larry miller is a pretty smart dude.
Just because he hasn’t been fired by PA doesn’t make him a suckup or a yes man, it could just mean he’s good enough to keep his job, (and smart enough not to cross his boss).
I'm a Greg Oden honk, yeah.
Even when I was still a Sonic fan, I liked Oden more than Kevin Durant.

If he can manage Brand Jordan
Then I’m sure he can handle the business side of a basketball team.
Much ado about nothing.
Miller has talent around him
I’m pretty confident that Miller is consulting with others in the Blazer organization to ensure that the moves are for the benefit of the organization. He has been very successful in the past and there’s no reason to believe that he would make moves that would jeopordize the future. Sure, he will be nice and cordial to Allen and it may be perceived as a suckup. But the relationship he has developed wtih Allen, from a boss/employee standpoint, is not that much different than that of the ordinary corporate employee.
Agreed, also:
Aren’t Buchanan and Born basically sharing the interim GM post right now? I’m guessing they were heavily involved in the Wesley Matthews contract…
made em jump like Rod Strickland
I'm not concerned with him handling the businmess side of things...
…especially since he’s elevated the Comcast issue to the FCC. However I AM concerned with him handling the basketball side of the house. I’d really like to see a GM brought on board sooner rather than later…one that really knows basketball and a decent degree of quantitative analysis.

true
he seems uber competent and uber calm to me…the basketball had plans before KP left and everything that has happened points to implementing those plans…
If he were freewheeling it without some “basketball” minds involved I of course would be concerned, but executing an established plan is clearly in his wheelhouse.
I am not sure where all the larry Miller angst comes from. He lays low and does his job. Both things PA obviously values.

If we need a new Blazers president
I think Ahmad Rashad would look good in that office.

Nah. He's fine at business, and not in charge of basketball ops.
I trust Born and Buchanan, unless PA goes crazy since they don’t have as much ground to stand on if they need to overrule him.
You can measure skill and talent with your eyes, but productivity is shown through statistics.
Well, I was going to be scared...
…but then I told myself that nothing had been determined yet, and I feel a lot better.

Mathews is Nates Guy!
Larry Miller is not making personnel moves based on “his” scouting ability. basketball decisions are being made mostly by Nate and B & B. Nate is the one who is after Mathews, no question, he is a nate guy through and through. Look at him, big strong body, tough, Defensive minded, can guard 2 positions, is young (eye on the future), can shoot the 3…Need i go on?
If you could write down a “type” for Nate, this guy could not be any more perfect. Nate could not have found a better match at eHarmony. Nate wants more D and versatility, doesnt like Rudy and traded Martell…Mathews fits everything to a T.
Plus...
There must be something to this Mathews kid. Not every player that comes through Utah is considered by Sloan to be his “favorite player”. Big time statement there. I heard that Sloan is not happy with losing Mathews.
