Dean Demopolous Joins Los Angeles Clippers' Coaching Staff
Former Portland Trail Blazers lead assistant coach Dean Demopolous has joined the coaching staff of the Los Angeles Clippers' newly-hired head coach Vinny Del Negro.
Demopolous is in Las Vegas this week helping coach Los Angeles's Summer League team, which stars 2010 draft picks Al-Farouq Aminu and Eric Bledsoe, as well as third year big man DeAndre Jordan. The Clippers got blown out by John Wall's Washington Wizards 89-64 in their Summer League debut tonight.
"I'm happy about it," Demopolous said about his new position after Monday night's game.
Demopolous and fellow assistant coach Joe Prunty were not retained by their Blazers after their contracts expired on July 1st. Portland Trail Blazers head coach Nate McMillan has yet to officially name their replacements.

Congratulations to him.
Prepare to have your tie grabbed over Blake’s safe playing time.
In Bayless I trust.

Vinny del Negro and Dean Demo?
I think it’s safe to say that Nate will not be outcoached by every NBA team next season
The Clippers got blown out by John Wall’s Washington Wizards 89-64 in their Summer League debut tonight….“I’m happy about it,” Demopolous said …
Attaway to lower those expectations, Double D. Look on the bright side, you’ll have less trouble keeping your tan all winter long
When reached 40 years of following Portland basketball you have, be as passionate of the Trail Blazers you will not!
I wonder who VDN will hire after Dean D.
One guess could be the ancient Del Harris, who’s out of a job after the debacle in New Jersey last season and, more importantly, assisted VDN when he first started out in Chicago during the 2008-2009 season.
If nothing else, the trio of VDN, Dean D., and Harris would balance poor coaching with an overdose of quaffed hair and bronze tans.
Del Harris has been mentioned alot lately.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he goes to assist someone familiar to him.
Being a Blazer fan is not exactly healthy.
that's taking a quote waaayy out of context at its prime right there.
"There are a few teams you have to watch out for in the fourth quarter."
"Yeah, but Portland definitely is not one of them."
-New Orleans Hornets broadcasters at the end of the third quarter with the Hornets leading 74-59. Portland later ends up winning 97-89.
"They don't mind him shooting that shot at all. Rudy Fernandez is not that great of a 3pt shooter."
-New Orleans Hornets broadcasters right after a Rudy Fernandez missed 3pter. Rudy Fernandez finished the game with three 3pters on six attempts.

Hope he does well, and avoids the curse.
You can measure skill and talent with your eyes, but productivity is shown through statistics.
I hope he took the Walton curse back to LA where it belongs.

Bill went to the Clippers after he broke his foot
Kevin Kunnert came to the Blazers in the Walton deal and hurt his foot
so there’s a connection between the two franchises. They rarely reach the playoffs, and Portland can’t keep their big men healthy for long

I never liked Dean D as a assistant coach nor a [fill-in] head coach.
He seems like a robot.
Being a Blazer fan is not exactly healthy.
This is great news.
When Vinny is fired midseason Dean will have the inside track for the head coaching job!

Like the Whos down in Whoville they did it without boxes or ribbons or bows, they did without centers or posting down low. They won without All-Stars and Spaniards and Frenchmen. They won with old geezers and sub-par defense-men. They won playing rookies from deep off the benches. They won with their grit and their guts in the trenches. And some who observed them have been known to say that their hearts grew three sizes (at least!) on the way. One hopes with their poise and their passion now proven that once they are healthy their game will be groovin'.
