Art Garcia, an NBA.com writer based in Dallas, tweets that Avery Johnson's hiring by the New Jersey Nets (Marc Stein's ESPN report here) could find another Blazers assistant coach on the move. --------------------- Possibles for Avery Johnson's staff in New Jersey include Blazers asst Joe Prunty & Mavs asst Popeye Jones. --------------------- Prunty, a former Mavericks assistant under Johnson, got the most run this year for his defensive gameplan preparation against his former team prior to a pivotal game in March. Although New Jersey was historically bad last season, they've got a new owner, a new coach, a top draft selection and, by virtue of their basement status, they are guaranteed to be a team on the rise. That's a more attractive situation for an assistant coach than you might think at first glance. If Prunty does leave that is a lot of turnover for Nate McMillan to deal with. -- Ben Golliver | benjamin.golliver@gmail.com | Twitter
