Real GM: Blazer Analysis
I found this part interesting:
The boldest moves in terms of tangible risk Pritchard has made so far have been the free agency signing of Miller and trading for Camby, neither of which sacrificed any members of their core. Whoever is ultimately GM of the Blazers must make an all-in move because even if Oden gets functionally healthy for an extended period, there are too many talented teams to really guarantee anything beyond the second round.

Thats a bold statement given
There is no way anyone can know how good we will be with Oden and Batum and the improving Bayless all playing at the same time with the combo of Roy, Aldridge, Camby, and Miller. Basketball being a sum of the parts, really, saying we won’t get past the second as constructed is bolderdash.
O.R.
Agreed
I’d say that if Portland had entered the post season this year with a healthy Roy, Batum and Camby they would’ve reached the WCF. Even as well as the Suns were playing, they had no answer for Brandon and Andre if the two Blazer guard were both able to attack simultaneously, without any restrictions
When reached 40 years of following Portland basketball you have, be as passionate of the Trail Blazers you will not!
Who says the best moves aren't sometimes the simplest?
Also I don’t think Prichard is risk adverse. I do think that he is waiting for the right deal to go all in on, though I think the fear is that with his reputation it will be that much harder to make the right deal happen. After getting the moniker for “prich-slapping”, too many people will be wary of him trying to orchestrate a major consolidation trade and try and throw kinks at us, the assumption being that if we’re going all in that it could really really help us or really really screw them over. What GM wants to be known for getting prich-slapped into giving us the final piece of our dynasty?
That is, in my opinion, entirely over blown. I think that these are reasonable business people – though it is a very competitive (and vain) business so who really knows…
I think that we have all the pieces we need, as of right now, to found our dynasty. Bayless’ will become consistent, Oden will become healthy, LMA will dominate and Camby will play forever. And of course Batum and Roy will rule the league and abuse all the Kobe’s and James’s of the world.
too many people will be wary of him trying to orchestrate a major consolidation trade
It’s interesting that you’d say this, because A-Woy was on with J-Can this afternoon and said that KP has been chasing a blockbuster deal ever since he hit a HR with the ‘06 draft, but that it doesn’t usually work out that way, in the NBA. I think most Blazer fans we see it the other way around, that KP has been reluctant to pull the trigger and surrender his assets (RLEC trading deadline, etc) I guess it all depends on your prespective. Adrian did praise Blazer fans for being so passionate and more plugged in to what their team is doing than any other fanbase

"blazers must make an all-in move"
This Guy gets paid by which NBA team to be a GM? When exactly did the Blazers become desperate? The most likely guy at the table to move all-in is the short stack. Is that who we are? Stupid comment by the author!

I do read BE. I used to read realGM. Maybe this is why I made the move.
Actually the mods over there are top notch. Some of the articles, however, are… let’s say… lacking insight.
