Coach Pushes Roy to the Next Level

Hobson, a longtime AAU coach, had helped shepherd some of the area's brightest basketball talents, and Roy was ready to be the next in line.

First! I guess...
But I’m a little let down, because I thought Nate actually challenged Roy to do something…
To do better; to be a true team leader, a defensive stopper, fill the wings on the break; move without the ball; learn to hit that J off a double screen like Ray Allen. I dunno, anything… to push him to the next level….
Never mind…..
Lou Hobson for assistant coach
It’s a “natural”
When reached 40 years of following Portland basketball you have, be as passionate of the Trail Blazers you will not!
he already
does 2 of the 3 things you mentioned roy pre-hamstring injury was on his way to a career year
Huh? We're talking Brandon here, right?
A true team leader doesn’t throw new teammates under the bus.
A defensive stopper doesn’t make half-hearted attempts to close on outside shooters.
By filling the wing on a break, I mean running and getting a layup, not catch the ball, stop running, and walk it up the court while the Defense sets..
By move without the ball, it requires you first to give UP the ball, and then move….
You certainly can’t mean that he comes off screens and can catch and shoot like Ray Ray…
So, I’m not sure how you got 3 things, but of those FIVE things… which two do you see Brandon doing??
ok you
mentioned 5 things. Out of those 5 roy has done all but 1. He seems to have gotten lazier each year defensively but he did adapt his game to having to play with miller which meant having less control of the offense and moving without the ball. He doesnt dominate the ball as much as lbj or wade do and doesnt shoot as much as kobe does with better options around him. I dont see why you think he should give the ball up more than he already has. In my opinion he needs the ball more and miller doesnt add enough to this team when roy is healthy to justify getting rid of blake. Nothing wrong with roy seeing a problem and speaking on it.
