It seems like we stockpiled a lot of assets during the draft, jettisoning Martell and adding 3 players (4 if you include Armon Johnson). I wonder if we are throwing these guys at the wall (Williams and Babbit especially) and seeing if they stick as cheaper backup options, making Bayless and Rudy more expendable in terms of packaging them in a consolidation trade. We also have Gomes now as a trade piece (or backup 4). I also expect to see more minutes for Dante at the 3 this year (tough defensive lineup) and of course a major increase for Batum with no one behind him warranting 24 mpg anymore (pending further roster changes).
Topics for discussion:
- Where would you like to see the Blazers go from here in terms of trades/free agency?
- Did anyone see Batum mention on Courtside that Tony Parker called him and asked what living in Portland was like because he's been hearing rumors? (which is interesting because I've only heard specuatlion, not rumors so much)
- Is there even a master plan right now? Or are we waiting for the new GM to come in with a fresh set of eyes and formulate their own master plan? (I'm very glad we still have Born and Buchanan)
Anyway, weigh in on the poll and please feel free to comment below...I know we've all been discussing it in other threads but I thought the Martell trade was fairly unexpected and this would be a good spot to discuss the roster as it stands post-draft. Thanks.
