I'll start by offering a trade idea, I'd like to hear yours...
Our biggest need is still PG.
I nominate Tony Parker. San Antonio is not traditionally a tax paying team. After the spanking they got at the hands of the suns I believe they believe it's rebuilding time. How better to rebuild than with prospects, draft picks and immediate financial relief.
Tony Parker 13.6 mil in 2010-11
Bayless 2.3 mil in 10-11
Gomes 4.3 mil (guaranteed for 1.0 mil)
Pryzbilla 7.4 mil
Claver euro if needed
Freeland euro if needed
future picks if needed
The spurs are a franchise very confident in their system and their drafting ability so prospects and picks might just mean more to them. Lets be honest, this feels like blazer spare parts for an all star pg. Never happen right? Well, George Hill is their PG of the future. Bayless lit them up in their own house last year so they should like him and if Joel never got hurt this deal would seem very 50/50. Just know that Joel isn't even 30 yet and could be resigned on the cheap now.
Lastly, Parker is an expiring contract and eventually it is my belief that the spurs will have to choose between hill and parker. If they don't move him this year then he probably leaves after next season and the spurs get nothing in return.
Also, if the spurs get over the tax next year... this trade saves them 3 mil plus the dollar for dollar tax = 6 mil. SIX MILLION DOLLARS can be pretty convincing
