Chad Ford And Bill Simmons: Paul Allen Becoming A Bad Owner

In their marathon draft day chat, ESPN's Chad Ford and Bill Simmons discussed what makes a good or bad NBA owner. Their conclusion: Good owners step back and let their GMs run their basketball operations. They were then asked for their opinion of Blazers Owner Paul Allen by Mike in Portland. Their response... ------------------------------- Chad Ford: Paul Allen is moving dangerously close to a bad one with the whole Kevin Pritchard thing. Bill Simmons: I think Paul Allen USED to be a good owner but now he's gone off the deep end and is supposedly one of the biggest meddlers in the league. The fact that he's running Pritchard out of town is simply inexplicable. He's a top-6 or top-7 GM. ------------------------------- Speaking of ESPN chats, Ryen Russillo writes about Kevin Pritchard: "I give him credit. He's trying and he's out the door as soon as it's over." Russillo also floats a "Marcus Camby to Chicago for Luol Deng and the #17 pick" rumor but then calls it "dead." Hard to see that one being seriously considered from Portland's side, although Deng has been involved in rumored trades to Portland going on three years now. -- Ben Golliver | benjamin.golliver@gmail.com | Twitter
