Checking up on Viktor Kryapa
Anyone note that Viktor Kryapa was named Euroleague MVP for the month of March and league Defensive Player of the Year? He's one former Blazer I wouldn't mind seeing back. He's hard nosed and a tiredless worker - attributes that Nate appreciated. He is hitting 3's at 40% , is versitle and has apparently developed as a defender. Unfortuantely it is unlikely to happen. The first problem is finding a spot on the roster, let along in the rotation. While I think he would look good playing alongside Batum or backing him up, Cunningham already appears to do the former and we currently have Martell for the latter. Then there is the issue of compensation. I'm guessing, but I'm betting he has a better opportunity for more money in Europe than in Portland. So, while I am still a Kryapa fan, I doubt I'll ever se him in Blazer red and balck again.

I concur with this statement ...
… most whole-heartedly.
Not into kissing guys.

Khryapa's team just lost
to Navarro/Rubio’s Barca.
About Khryapa’s D: he’s a very solid team defender (which is probably why Nate liked him). He’s still rather heavy-footed, and would get burned off the dribble, but I think he could be a rich man’s Jared Dudley if he came back. But as the poster said: he’s not coming back. He’s a star on one of the top 3 teams in Europe. Like Navarro, Diamantidis, Spanoulis and Papaloukas he’s content to be big in Europe and forget the NBA.

People love to sneer at Euros' defense...
but remember that Batum, Kirilenko, Ginobili (and I think Verajao) all played in Europe. And Thabo Sefalosha is Swiss. And Pau Gasol is a very underrated defender…
I don't think many would argue the defensive value of any of those guys.
But, Euro ball is very deferent from the NBA so defenses are like you said more geared toward team defense. So when they’re forced to play some 1 on1 guys like Viktor don’t stand out as much.

always like viktor
solid player, good personality.
a) The best chance to see him in the NBA again is probably for the Nets
b) I somewhat suspect he is using PEDs
I’m of course not sure, it’s just an odd suspicion with him every time I watch him play. I think he looks much bulkier than he was in Portland and Chicago, more like a PF than a SF. His head looks a bit different too. And he has the same weird skin rashes on arms and legs as Rashard Lewis (who got caught) and a number of suspended track and field sprinters.
Sean Higgins, Ruben Nembhard, Omar Cook, Hank McDowell, and Terry Dischinger
all rank higher? i’m impressed you remembered all their names.
GG MFer!
