If KP is going to draft international players then draft this guy
Ryan Richards from England. The guy is 6'10 245 lbs and only 19 years old. Has an NBA body and is really athletic. He got ball handling skills too. He would be the perfect guy to backup Aldridge. Heck he might be better than Aldridge since he has so much potential while he is still young. He is basically the Nicolas Batum of power forward. Can hit jump shots like Aldridge and can pass out of double teams. Here is a video of him:

So what do you guys think?

Yea its not great defense
but from the way he plays you can see he got the tools to be pretty good. Plus he had one of the best predraft workouts earlier today. Of course its only day one but its still something.

Sure, why not draft another Joel Freeland...
so the Brits can keep each other company, playing over in Europe?
I understand the need to save money and not pay your first round draft picks, but is stashing Euros every year really the best way to accomplish this?
How many times are we going to hear “…but he could be the next Batum!” when discussing potential imports? It’s almost like the old “we can’t trade this kid away because he’ll end up like Jermaine O’Neal” bromide
When reached 40 years of following Portland basketball you have, be as passionate of the Trail Blazers you will not!

thank you
Marcus Camby was gaining energy again as the game wound to a close, much like a vampire sucking the life out of a dainty maiden. Amare Stoudemire, on the other hand, looked daintier and more maidenly with every possession.
He looks mean.
Actually looks pretty good … even though he is playing against midgets for the most part. Better than Yi’s chair I guess. Did not even make DX’s list of top players of his age overseas, though he apparently has declared for the draft this year. Might be worth a 2nd round pick.

wow one day at the combine and everyone is ready to draft him
can he get his own shot against NBA defenders? can he defend some of the elite 4s in the Western Conference?
I love how a guy runs through drills at the combine for one day, when hardly anyone knew about him before, and now everyone is ready to draft him and calling him the next Amare
I’m not saying he’s not any good, I’m just saying lets see a little more from him in some actual 5-on-5 games before we anoint the guy. Every year there are guys who are workout warriors, some GM gets way to excited and drafts them, and then it turns out they have no feel for the game

Chad Ford's take on him:
Before they fall too in love, it’s important to note that Richards played sparingly in Gran Canaria in Spain this year before eventually transferring to Switzerland to play. He got meaningful minutes there, but the competition was very weak. Said one veteran international scout, “I like Richards a lot, but he isn’t ready by a long shot. That’s the problem coming to an event like this. Our GMs haven’t seen him, he hits some shots, and they fall in love. It gets harder for us to tell them he doesn’t really play very much. They don’t want to hear it.”

Batum didn't play alot, either
The NBA vs. the European game and another year can make all the difference.
"I'm passing it down," Howard said. "Showing the guys that, hey, here's an example of a guy who played 16 years. If you don't want to listen and get the valuable, free information from him - soak it up like a sponge - then you've got to be a damn fool."
great argument
“he didnt get a chance there, so he shouldnt get a chance here” I think there is a reason GM’s are GM’s and international scouts are just international scouts

he really worked his swagger
grabbing rebounds against people significantly shorter than him…as far as player-talent-inflated youtube compilations go, this one isn’t even that impressive.
beware the youtube compilation…
When I saw him warming up at the draft combine I thought he was 6'6
He moves like a guard and he is built like one. If the Trail Blazers cant move up he is an honest ‘shoot the moon’ prospect.
take a flyer on him in the second round
if hes crap then theres no commitment, if hes good then hes not covered by the rookie pay scale for first rounders
