Andy Giegerich of the Portland Business Journal writes that Portland Trail Blazers General Manager Kevin Pritchard has been named to the board of a technology company based in Washington. ------------------------------ Kevin Pritchard has joined the board of Maple Valley, Wash.-based Etelos, a cloud computing specialist. Etelos, founded 11 years ago, develops a Web distribution platform which helps businesses move existing applications to the Internet "cloud." The term refers to resources, software and other information provided on-demand directly through the Internet. ... "We’ve had an opening on the board for several months that we knew we wanted to fill with a high-level and well-connected business executive," said Danny Kolke, Etelos’s CEO. "We have two great software minds already and Kevin gives us a business-minded executive that understands managing under stress and competition." ------------------------------ It's not unusual for sports executives to sit on the board of other companies. Larry Miller, for example, is on the board for Self Enhancement Inc. But the timing here makes you wonder. In any case, it will be interesting to track how KP works to reform the notoriously out-of-control culture of the Cloud Computing world.
