The Evil Truth(s) of Blazersedge -- JD 5/1

Tominhawaii recently posted that there is a vast Bedge conspiracy "to cover up an evil truth."

Some may laud his courage for stating this, when others are afraid, but I note the more important fact that he didn't actually tell us what this evil truth is that everyone is covering up.

Star-divide

Now, poor Tom maybe is afraid, so it falls to me.  As always, you know I am willing to call a spade a spade.  You want to talk about evil?  Who is more self-righteous willing than me to do that?

So here it is, the revealing of the evil truths:

1. Dave tears the "do not remove" tags off of mattresses.

2. Ben's underarm stains are darker than his underwear stains.

3. Timbo is really a 14 year old girl who only listens to classical music.

4. Blazerfan1 secretly intends to vote for Chris Dudley -- in the Republican primary.

5. Mortimer is just the same in real life as he is on Bedge.

Of course, in any conspiracy, there are bound to be more evil truths than even jscot would know about.  Your turn.

THIS HAS BEEN A TEST

Result?  Some of you recognize junk when you see it, some of you don't.

Title now edited.

Or as Glen Beck put it, just go educate yourselves. It's not up to the government to provide and education for you. There's a thing called a library.

(question: where do libraries come from?)

Knowledge is power

Power corrupts.

Ergo, knowledge makes people evil. Satan tempts people to be evil. So, libraries are one of the tools he uses to make people do evil.

This make perfect sense!

(Contains Spoilers)

I have to whisper, people are listening and I’m certain that my keyboard is tapped…

TiH is correct, there is a conspiracy, but what you may not be aware of is that this post of his is a deflection away from people seeing the truth of his own personal guilt. Random thoughts, funny of the wall notions, pointed jabs, all of TiH’s posts over the years have made you laugh, made you cry, made you vomit in your mouth a bit, or all of the above. However, the true purpose behind his choice of words is much more sinister.

Every day the New York Times puts out a beginner Sedoku puzzle which contains a cipher. This string of numbers, when applied to TiH’s Bedge posts will reveal the depths of this cover up and of the blackness of his soul. Each day he hides secret messages and only when decoded do you find the root of this plot. The messages all read the same thing, all point in the same direction… drink more ovaltine.

I am contemplating a new Fan Post

It would be a mammoth Fanpost with far-reaching implications and discuss topics never seen before on BlazersEdge. I think it will be about the Culture of Injury and will include a side discussion about my favorite Blazers nicknames. One of the Evil Truths of Blazersedge is that we all have thoughts about Nate and about G.O. next year. Additionally we will have to discuss the Draft, MLE, and Trades , including a possible trade of LMA for Kevin Love. KP will have a lot of work to do and I will have to be a Devils Advocate: Kevin Pritchard in my Parting Words. It should include a discussion of where I stand about the Blazers Future-Optimist/Pessimist . Personally, I think that Oden is comparable to Dwight Howard on a Per Minute Basis and like I said before, the fanpost should include all Possible Moves, a Playoff Poll, provide a place to Let your Nate Angst Out. We can discuss What to do with Greg Oden and Rudy and whether to go after Phil Jackson. It could also be a sort of an Open Letter to LaMarcus. The commenters to this fanpost would be, I believe, an Amazing Crowd…..all discussing highly relevant topics such as “Which teams to root for now” and “Ranking the West Cities (not the teams)” but the cities themself ….awesome!!

So what do you all think?? Should I undertake a fanpost of such scope? Or is it just too advanced for the people of BlazersEdge …I think it may be. Please provide in the comments

Oh, BTW, if you are ever required to give chest compression during CPR......

…think of the Queen song…..“Another one Bites the Dust”

During the administration of chest compressions during CPR, it can be difficult to achieve and maintain the recommended rate of 100 compressions per minute. The bass line of this song is at such a rate; thus it is possible to think of or hum this song during CPR, to maintain the correct rate.

Sorry to bring an actual basketball topic into the secret JD, but rumor has it that Terrence Jones, who committed verbally to UW on Friday was contacted by coach Calipari and reportedly told that he had let down 1000s of fans. In retrospect, perhaps a "review drawer" would be a good idea

A drawer to post your reviews, opinions, summaries, and arguments about the people, games, or overall team stuff from last season.

Hmmm.

by Timmay! on May 1, 2010 1:37 PM PDT reply actions

this is a good idea. do you think any additional time is needed since the end of our season?—like a cooling off period.

A cooling-off period would really be nice.

But indeed, this is now a very impatient society, especially most Internet users.

Sergeballu LaMu Sayonga Loom Walahas Jonas Hugo Ibaka

The more he plays, the more he will produce. This 20 year old phenom is the future of the Thunder playoff hopes. He has the physical skills to dominate just about anyone – Kemp like. Producing those numbers at such a young age are not common. If he had LA minutes I guarantee he outproduces him. He has great instincts. I would not be surprised to see him dominate LaMarcus in the future.

Blazer fans:

Don’t blind your self to the future, OKC has a very promising young post player to go with their amazing talent in the back court.

Blazer management:

You have been warned. Make a move. IMO OKC is in a steadier place this offseaon then the Blazers. Less injury worries in particular. They won’t need to do much, find a nice veteran & use your draft picks well. We need to do something to keep up with them. Just line it up and be real, can we win a seven game series:

OKC:
Westbrook- Advantage
Sefolosha
Durant- Advantage
Green
Krstic
Bench- Advantage(I’ll take Maynor, Harden & Ibaka over Bayless, Rudy/Webster & Cunningham eh nee day – Mainly because the advantage Ibaka gives you)

PTL:
Miller
Roy- Advantage
Batum
Aldridge – Advantage(Aldridge wins out over Green but the PF duo of Green/Ibaka is more effective – Defense wins in playoffs and these guys are better on that end, better rebounders if you add the numbers up too. Only give up .4ppg to Aldridge/Cunningham)
Camby – Advantage(We win out here, even though we haven’t gotten consistent play at this spot from any one player in particular, good depth compared to them)

If we plan to keep Aldridge, we must look for a PF who can get physical, defend the paint & get some easy buckets in the post.

by IndustrialRevolution on May 1, 2010 6:18 PM PDT up reply actions

Ibaka > Aldridge

Ibaka looks like a young Shawn Kemp or Amare Stoudemire.. Aldridge is just Rasheed Wallace without the attitude.

by IndustrialRevolution on May 1, 2010 2:55 PM PDT reply actions

Go back and watch when Ibaka plays

He is the better player. Much better rebounder/defender then Aldridge and he doesn’t take faders, most his points come from momentum creating dunks :|

I like Ibaka and think he'll be good

He might be more than a role player ultimately, how he develops over the next 2 or 3 seasons will tell us a lot.

But if we got Oden, it just don’t matter. Ibaka is another big-PF sized dude trying to reign in a true center sized Oden.

HEALTH HEALTH HEALTH my kingdom to be able to not always worry about the health…

#52

by Mortimer on May 1, 2010 9:39 PM PDT up reply actions

I think he has potential to develop, since – similar to Freeland – he hasn’t played organized basketball for long. Basically just two years in the ACB. And he IS an athletic freak. He has a bit of the Tyrus Thomas disease trying to block everything that comes his way, but over time when he adjusts he can easily be a better defender than Thomas or Amare. Offensively he is raw, but he did show range out to about 18-20 feet. If they could move Green to get a good true center to play alongside Ibaka, they should just do that. I doubt a Green-Ibaka frontcourt is an ideal solution.

by Norsktroll on May 1, 2010 9:47 PM PDT up reply actions

I really like Ibaka as a defensive player, and being someone that contributes to a team winning. He’s definitely a 4, though, and he just isn’t the kind of post presence they’re going to need.

our hearts are heavy and light

by Cablinasian on May 1, 2010 9:49 PM PDT up reply actions

Yeah, I like him

He may ultimately play a more winning style of ball than LMA, so I don’t care if someone likes Ibaka more even if it is likely premature.

As far as being a POST presence, yeah, who knows, it could happen but there wasn’t a lotta signs of it. More, being a true PF version of a Best Case Tyrus, who could learn some offensive skills to be more than just a wide open dunker or rebound dunker.

#52

by Mortimer on May 1, 2010 9:52 PM PDT up reply actions

we just always need to be careful in projecting rookies. So often, we see their amazing play as a young player off of their athleticism, and project greatness… but it doesn’t turn out that way. Not every player who can impact the game out of athleticism learns the “easy” skills to take it up a notch.

That being said, I think he will be a lot better than he is now.

our hearts are heavy and light

by Cablinasian on May 1, 2010 9:53 PM PDT up reply actions

At least you have to play them. And the Blazers, Collison (the Hornet) and Ibaka would probably play Mills/Bayless-year-1 and Pendergraph roles.

We should hire Žalgiris Kaunas physical trainer Alexander "The Professor" Kosauskui

He helped Sabonis, and is currently working with a 21 year old kid that was already 7-1 struggling with growth spurts at age 17 and weighed almost nothing for a guy that size (under 200 pounds) but now has become a solid basketball player again.

Swim training or training with a strength coach who treats javelin athletes or quarterbacks might really be a workable solution to strengthen the shoulder. At least for that they went to a special doctor in LA.

Morty: nerd question. Why won’t my player intercept a pass if I’m standing in the way of the ball? I’ve never deflected a pass, I don’t get it. My d-awareness is maxed, as are my steals. Hands need to be higher?

our hearts are heavy and light

by Cablinasian on May 1, 2010 9:47 PM PDT reply actions

Might be hands

I get most of my steals off of deflections, and it’s mostly timing… the actual steals rating only seems to help stripping the ball from someone.

I don’t get many deflections by just standing and the ball kinda goes “through” me, I get them by luring the defender and jumping into the lane, if ya get what I mean.

Even with steals at 99 and hands at 99 and all defensive stats, I don’t usually catch a pass, I deflect and run and grab it.

#52

by Mortimer on May 1, 2010 9:49 PM PDT up reply actions

dang it, I do that all the time. I guess I gotta figure out what the sweet spot is.

What do I max out next? I have D-awareness/speed/quickness/stamina/steal/shoot in traffic/layups at 99

our hearts are heavy and light

by Cablinasian on May 1, 2010 9:51 PM PDT up reply actions

PSSH, yes. If it was anything else, I wouldn’t ask YOU.

our hearts are heavy and light

by Cablinasian on May 1, 2010 9:58 PM PDT up reply actions

Offensive awareness, I think, helps ya get loose balls

So if you do one day learn to deflect a pass, your character kinda immediately goes towards the loose ball… or if someone else knocks a pass loose.

Do ya shoot on the move? Shoot Off Dribble stat? Vertical, to dunk more and rebound?

#52

by Mortimer on May 1, 2010 9:59 PM PDT up reply actions

hmmm, that is a good call on the vertical, but it’s hard to rebound with Greg or Joel, or both of them. They eat every d-board available.

I rarely shoot a jumper, it’s mostly layups. Are the shoot inside/close helpful, or is it mainly layups?

our hearts are heavy and light

by Cablinasian on May 1, 2010 10:01 PM PDT up reply actions

It appears to be mainly "layups" and "shoot in traffic"

Because my shot inside is only 66, my shot close only 81. I got 3s at 99 but I still don’t shoot ’em much.

I would do vertical, it helps for offensive rebounds, you will get more defensive boards unless ya don’t wanna steal ’em away from Oden or Joel, but most of all ya get the highlight points from dunks. It adds up.

#52

by Mortimer on May 1, 2010 10:02 PM PDT up reply actions

does vertical actually help with dunks? I thought that was only according to your dunk rating?

Vert would help me get blocks. I’ve become a master at baiting the opposing point into a shot and snuffing it.

our hearts are heavy and light

by Cablinasian on May 1, 2010 10:04 PM PDT up reply actions

Ya still just do basic dunks

The dunk stat, apparently, is more cosmetic, I think… just better/different animations the more ya got.

#52

by Mortimer on May 1, 2010 10:07 PM PDT up reply actions

vertical, here I come… which is cool, because I’ll almost have my physical stats maxed out.

our hearts are heavy and light

by Cablinasian on May 1, 2010 10:08 PM PDT up reply actions

Yeah, cause my dunk stat was only a lil' above what an athletic guardv starts at for most of my rookie year

And I hardly ever even missed dunks, and I dunked a lot… so I didn’t work on the dunk stat much since it is kinda spendy and doesn’t really help.

Now, it is 99, and I dunk cool, but it doesn’t really matter.

#52

by Mortimer on May 1, 2010 10:09 PM PDT up reply actions

Hmm, I don’t think I’ve ever missed a dunk and my vertical is still at 71. I think it’ll help with blocks though, and those are crazy fun.

I have no desire for it now whatsoever

When I was a kid, and would sneak down by the locker rooms at Civic Stadium, I’d get autographs of the minor league baseball players and talk with them, and I did it just cause I thought you were ’sposed to. I was more excited meeting the pros.

As an adult, I could care less. My parents got me a Ken Griffey Jr autographed baseball when I was a kid, maybe that is worth something. I got a Kirby Puckett autographed card, and Dave Winfield. I used to collect baseball and basketball cards for 2 years, and lost interest fast.

My friend is from Portland, I knew him up there, but he lived in LA during the fun Clipper days with Lamar and Darius and Q-Rich, and his favorite player was Darius so he bought and framed a jersey while Darius was cool.

Then he was super pumped when we traded for Darius, and had his heartbroken watching Darius not be as good as he should be every game.

by Mortimer on May 2, 2010 12:15 AM PDT up reply actions

He was a weird kitty

The first 10 years of his life, he acted as if we all abused him as a kitten (we got him way young and he wasn’t abused, just a weirdo who heard voices).

But then when my parents moved to the “countryside” and he became an inside/outside cat, he became normal and would want pets and sit on laps and almost purr sometimes.

by amlmart1 on May 2, 2010 12:23 AM PDT up reply actions

I like the personality differences

I think there is a part of me that prefers dogs because of how attached they get to you and they do what you say and NEED you to take care of them, for the most part.

That’s how the cat I had growing up was, besides the needing humans to survive thing… he was a hunter who always brought me carcasses, but he was SUPER attached. I guess I am needy!

And how happy they get when they see you

I know I’ve mentioned it before, but my favorite greeting is from our current sheepdog at my parents place, because she can NOT present herself to someone coming home without a rag or a towel in her mouth.

We have no idea why, where she got it from, but she HAS to find a towel to grab in her mouth and come say hi to you with. She doesn’t wanna play with it, doesn’t wanna do a tug of war, she just NEEDS it in her mouth or she isn’t suitable for presenting.

If she can’t find one, she gets real sad and frantic and runs all over the house till she finds one, so we just leave handtowels on the floor for her.

She’s the most neurotic dog we’ve had. She so silly.

by Cablinasian on May 2, 2010 12:35 AM PDT up reply actions

I also prefer cats, but maybe because they are easier to handle since we always traveled a lot

We did have a dog once, an Entlebucher. Though technically she belonged to another relative, she spent most of the time in our house. She was pretty fun to have, e.g. loved hiking in the mountains (well, it’s a mountain dog/sheepherding dog, duh). And driving around in the back of the car. I was small, so the huge dog did scare me sometimes a bit, since she did have a habit of tackling you when you ran around and once really threw me down good grabbing my jeans leg and twisting. And almost killed my grandmother happy to see her and throw her down a flight of marble/granite stairs.

I had 4 cats, who all had vastly different personalities. My first cat I had the longest. He was a beautiful black and white cat, was just about 3 years younger than me and I loved him dearly. He was constantly around people and loved it, and very smart. Unfortunately he died shortly before I graduated high school which was a sucky time. I also found out a few months later when I visited the grave in the woods that we had done a mistake not burying him deep enough (not allowed in your own garden, and I never could get my pet into a crematorium) and what looked to be a kind of wolverine had dug him out. Terrible.
We had a female cat for some time with him, which was an aggressive little beast. She belonged to my step-sister, and I didn’t care all that much for it. She was a clever girl though, hiding under a radiator that was just big enough for her and hitting the other cat and everyone trying to get her if she wanted to be alone. She also got about 17 or so, but was already older when we got her so she died earlier than my first cat.
My third cat was a little black one who was very afraid of other people, but loved to cuddle with me and my mother and was a wild chaser of all things. He once managed to escape from the balcony of an apartment on the third floor through the roof drain down to the street, which must have been the craziest stunt ever by a cat I had. Unfortunately he got run over by a car when he was 3, and we didn’t see it.
My current cat is now about 6, and almost as big as the first one. A pretty orange cat. The difference to when he was small are ginormous. But despite his very manly stature and seeming ability to aggressively defend his territory against other cats he’s a little coward who hides under covers and in dark places when other people come. He does only recognize and like about 5 people, but he remembers those. And isn’t nearly as cuddly. He loves to get stroked, but doesn’t like to sit on people’s laps at all. I hope he stays alive a long long time.

I get extremely sad when a cat or dog of mine dies

If I was an actor and needed to have a memory to make myself cry, it would be Carlisle dying when I was 14. Such a good ani-pal.

Bull dying, and knowing he was gonna die because of the brain tumor, and how he kept getting worse and we had to put him down, was extra rough… and because I wasn’t able to be home when it happened :-( It was before I had moved to LA, but before I had gotten back from Germany. So sad.

The sheepdog we had growing up, Martha

We kept alive too long, we felt, and didn’t wanna do that to a pet again… we were keeping her alive for selfish reasons, and her hips were hurting her so much, she could barely walk, she obviously wasn’t enjoying life.

We still didn’t put her down, because we didn’t wanna do that to our Martha, but she started getting sick and we had to. We felt bad for keeping her alive longer than we should have, since she was in pain and the medicine didn’t help.

Poor puppy :-( She was my dad’s dog.

And then poor Hank, a dog that was ‘sposed to be a Newfie but wasn’t, he was a weird mix… so nice to everyone in the family, but outright MURDEROUS with strangers and other animals. He kept trying to kill the other dogs (and he was a big dog) and tried to kill my aunt when she visited, and he was getting crazier and more violent.

Since he was so big and hard to control (he would have literally killed my mom’s teacup maltese if I wasn’t there to pull him off the poor lil’ dog— he had bit the dog at the neck, picked it up and shook lil’ Mojo, and threw him against the wall. He was okay, but it was scary and it was ROUGH to get control of Hank.

Plus he had attacked Bull a few times, leaving deep bite marks in the neck and Bull would just be in shock afterward, shaking all night and refusing to move from my bed.

We had to put him down :-(

When I was in 7th grade, my neighbor's dog was attacked by a Rottweiler

while they were on a walk. They were walking on one side of the street and a lady was walking her Rottweiler was on the other side. When her dog saw my neighbor’s little yorkie, he pulled the lady across the street, attacked him, and killed him. There was basically nothing my neighbor could do.

That sucked so bad too because he was like a second dog to me and he absolutely loved me. He was only a couple years old too. So sad :-(((((

My cat was the same way (she also died not too long ago and was older than 15. I win.).

She was a stray cat in the neighborhood and we ended up keeping her. She would get scared reeeeeally easily and didn’t really like other people. As she got older, she just stopped caring and wasn’t scared of anything anymore. Well, except the vacuum.

When they started selling skis and bikes and all that stuff, they pretty much sold medium range goods at premium prices

I felt like they were a store for people who were either too lazy go elsewhere or didn’t know about better products that could be found elsewhere. It’s one of the traps of trying to sell something for everyone. Hopefully they get it right again.

It ain't a winning style of play at an important position

From an important player, capable of more, but may not have the mentality for more.

I worry more about the health of Oden (just hoping for a lengthy stretch of health) more than I worry about LMA, but LMA’s lack of progress and how he doesn’t do what he is capable of doing do not seem to bode well to me, historically.

Generally, players like that, stay like that. I’d hoped he could beat the odds, and I also hope it is just magnified because Roy was hampered for so long and Oden was out… a team with LMA as the focal point isn’t a pretty thing. His lack of aggressiveness, decision making, focus, tenacity, and overall style of play is worrisome, but it may just be a product of the season.

I don’t expect him to ever be a good rebounder for his position, but I did expect that he would gain more confidence as he aged and kept getting stronger, to remain aggressive and not get thrown off his game so easily. He makes it way too easy for the other team sometimes.

#52

by Mortimer on May 2, 2010 1:02 AM PDT up reply actions

I don't worry about his contract and still say he is EASILY tradeable

The question of course becomes “tradeable for WHO” and whether Oden can stay healthy enough, and keep advancing his offensive game like I expect, for us to afford to move LMA and his offense to something that would seem to fit us better overall.

#52

by Mortimer on May 2, 2010 1:04 AM PDT up reply actions

did he re-injure the shoulder? I don’t think he tore the labrum again, so it should be a short-term thing.

I’m not sure what to think. It’s easy to let the recent events dwell in our minds, and things change quickly. I’m hoping that it turns out good. It might not, but I try not to consider that yet.

by Cablinasian on May 2, 2010 1:08 AM PDT up reply actions

I am confident that I am looking at things broadly. I should add that I disagree with your assertion that it’s either survive or thrive. I think this team may see decent success despite set backs. Very active management of playing time and ramping up strictly for the second half of the season with specialized role players, similar to the championship Spurs seems to be in order.

did I say that it’s either survive or thrive? I just said that last year’s team was thriving, but this year’s team was just trying to hang on. Of course there are shades of gray… unless I’m misunderstanding what you’re trying to say. It is late.

If we’re limiting Greg and Brandon in their mid and early twenties, to maintain health, we probably don’t have much to build on anyway.
